What you need to know

  • HP just announced the Z24m and Z24q monitors.
  • The Z24m features a pop-up camera for video calls while the Z24q does not.
  • The HP Z24q is expected in May with a starting price of $374.
  • The HP Z23m should ship in June, but it does not have pricing details available at this time.

HP built the Z24 with virtual communication in mind. It has a 5MP pop-up camera, dual noise-canceling microphones, and dual speakers. It also supports HP Presence and includes Auto Lock and Awake, thanks to a proximity sensor. Our Cale Hunt wrote a complete breakdown of human presence detection, which is a handy resource for catching up if you haven't used the feature before.

The specs of the two monitors are largely the same, apart from the fact that the Z24m has conferencing features while the Z24q does not. HP's spec tables for the monitors show a difference in port selection as well.
