Xbox Video

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

One of my favorites movies from the summer is now available to own or rent. And it is at least worth a rental this weekend if you haven't seen it. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes continues the story of a deadly virus that genetically enhanced apes. This film takes place ten years after those events an shows how humanity is coping. [PG-13, 2 hr 10 min]

The Babadook

The Babadook. It's at 98% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and has an 87 Metascore on Metacritic. It's easily in the running for best new horror film of 2014 and worth a watch. It came out earlier this year for Australian audiences and is now making a theatrical run in the U.S. But you can rent it on Xbox Video if you want to be scared. [R, 1 hr 33 min]

Last Chance Rentals!

For whatever reason, a handful of movies won't be available to rent on Xbox Video soon. So if you're interested in renting movies like Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Noah, and Horns you better act fast.

  • The Babadook is pretty bad. Especially the ending.
  • You're on drugs.
  • Did you actually watch it? It seems promising but the last part of it, especially the ending is just dumb.
  • You're on crack. The movie was awesome.
  • Crack
  • He's not on crack, his brain had just withdrawn to a happy place by the end. Greatest horror film in decades!
  • Yes I actually watched it. Its not your run of the mill horror story. I watch a lot of horror stories. Its super creative and mind bending. I will admit that the end could've been executed better, but its still great.
  • It was awesome. Especially the ending.
  • Sure. You all have some low standards if you think the ending was good. All it took was yelling at the badadook to get it tamed and then we feed it worms while it hides in the basement. Sorry, but that was stupid as hell.
  • Yeah, I'm with you. That ending was dumb as hell. Though it probably wasn't the best idea to drop spoilers like that in the thread.
  • Are these weekly paid advertisements
  • No
  • Enter the 36 chambers....Wu-Tang Forever!!
  • Yep.
  • Wu-Tang Wu-Tang Wu-Tang !
  • Seriously digging the Wu-Tang album art.
  • Wu Tang Clan and She & Him for me this saturday afternoon.
  • Yeah! More sounds from RZA. Wu-Tang Clan and She & Him, a good combo for this weekend ;D
  • Huge Wu fan but this album is kind of meh. There are a couple of good tracks but I was hoping for more with this album.
  • The music is good, but the lyrics are so u inspirational...
  • Yea I was really disappointed in that Wu album.
  • Yea same here
  • Zooey Deschanel is what dreams are made of... Such a beautiful woman..
  • These are the worst articles, haha. They're always, "check out this mass-market crap," not a thing even a tiny bit interesting ever advertised.
  • Keith Wallace, you can recommend your superior taste in indie music and video to me. I will gladly share it with the rest of the world. Love, Sam.
  • Xbox music and video are to expensive
  • Video...Yeah.. Music... Well, they have 50 free albums right now plus a few others for 1.99 I don't buy otherwise, so I'm not too familiar with their regular pricing. But I definitely think Xbox music has the best sales.
  • You think it's expensive now? I miss the $14 plan I accidentally got off of. With that one you got to keep 10 songs a month.
  • I have that plan. That's pretty much why I don't buy much music. I'm sure I'll regret it if ever I cancel it. So, I've decided not to.
  • Xbox music and videos are useless in my country. You cant even uninstall it.
  • I would give my left nut for Xbox Music to come to India. I'm using it, and it is top-notch stuff. Oh, and a cheaper Pass would also do :-P
  • They still have holiday freebies
  • I want mix radio back with downloading facility
  • Huge Wu-Tang fan, Better Tomorrow is okay, not their best work, but still okay ... Better than Eminem's Shady XV though (Disk 1)
  • Nice
  • No Xbox music store for India...
  • Interesting music selections for this week, I’ll give them a “spin” this afternoon. Also, may I suggest Darius Rucker’s, Home “For The Holidays”, if your into holiday tunes. My favorite tracks are “Please Come Home for Christmas” and “Winter Wonderland. I am also looking for suggestions for good Christmas music to add to this year’s playlist. I am also interested in a good holiday movie or two. Bad Santa is one of my favs.
  • Not a huge Christmas song fan but I am a Darius Rucker fan. Going to have to check that out.
  • Xbox music need to be free
  • Too bad microsoft stopped the free audio listening on xbox music app for windows 8.1. I would have given it a go. But as long as the future of the longterm service provision for music and video is unsure, as of lately, I'm very hestiant to invest a single euro in a subscription plan, let alone buy a video on xbox video for windows 8.1. It's amazing that spotify is free now, making it harder to invest in microsofts music. If they would at least allow the previous the free 14 hours as was previous the case, I would have considered a subscription eventually. But music has unfortuanetely been totally locked down. Thus, now I have a music app on my phone and surface, just hanging around collecting dust. A pity really. The apps are quite alright in my experience, it's just that the business plan makes it hard to get too near these apps. I really feel awful for the developers who put so much energy in the end user user interface, for these otherwise okay apps.
