Microsoft Store discounts 12-month Xbox Live Gold to $39.99

Xbox Live is Microsoft's online gaming service. Subscribing to Xbox Live Gold lets you play multiplayer and grants you access four free titles each month. Usually, a twelve-month subscription costs $59.99, but Microsoft is discounting it for the next fourteen days. Starting today, you can pick it up for just $39.99 (£26.50 in the United Kingdom). Now's a great time to renew because you'll save $20 which can be used towards another game. Considering that the Ultimate Game Sale starts tomorrow, it might be worth saving that amount.

Gold members gain access to amazing titles like Splinter Cell: Conviction this month so be sure to redeem that on your console if you haven't already. Xbox Live Gold is necessary if you own an Xbox One because multiplayer gaming is a core experience of the ecosystem.

  • Can't gift it at $39. I was going to gift a subscription to a friend who has let his Gold lapse but apparently you can only do so at the regular $59 price. Too bad, lost sale.
  • Fyi, it's not a discounted code for Xbox Live Gold but a discounted price for an ongoing subscription. It also says that it's $39 USD ($46 CAD) for the first year and then $59 USD ($69 CAD there after)
  • I always cancel it after a year and just get codes in the future. There are plenty of ways to save. I don't think I've paid more than $40 for Xbox Live Gold for a good three to four years now. You just have to stock up when a great sale or deal occurs.
  • Came here to point that out too. I was about to buy and then I saw that detail.
  • Yes! You're correct. But read it carefully. I do this every year. I renew for $39... What is says is that it will do an annual renew at $59 BUT you can go into your account and disable/remove the automatic renewal for $59 therefore you're only paying $39 for the year. This is nothing new. It has always been the case when renewing year to year if Microsoft provides it to you. This happens in June every year for me because that's when my subscription expires and I sign up and disable/remove the automatic renewal for the future years.
  • You could always buy it at the discounted price... Then send them the code. It's a shame it can't be gifted at the discounted price
  • Ah, it's not a code but a subscription. :(
  • I was able to buy two years back to back and check the effect of the transactions. From 6/1/2019 to 2020 to finally 2021 so I can confirm that at least 2 purchases will stack and that at least 2 years 10 month and several days. I think I'll wait for next gen to buy more years so if you wanna try to go further I'd be mildly interested in the outcome but just sharing. It isn't a code, you can't gift at the discounted price which saddens me because I have a bunch of younger family members that I'd love to buy a year for at this rate.
