Windows Central's top 5 videos in 2014

Happy New Year! It's time to start writing that number 5 instead of 4 when filling out paperwork. But before we move on, let's take a look at Windows Central's five most viewed videos from 2014. And if you haven't done it yet, make sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel. You get notified whenever a new video gets published and we occasionally put stuff in there that doesn't show up here on the site.

5. Nokia Lumia 1320 unboxing and hands-on

Coming in at about 265,000 views is our hands-on and first impressions on the Nokia Lumia 1320. It's the affordable Lumia phablet, which is a more budget friendly version of the Lumia 1520. It features a 6-inch 720x1280 display with a dual core Snapdragon CPU, 1 GB of RAM, microSD expansion, 3400 mAh battery and a 5 MP camera. Overall, the specifications of the Lumia 1320 are quite solid for a more budget friendly Windows Phone.

4. Nokia Lumia 930 unboxing and hands-on

Next up is our Lumia 930 hands-on video with about 312,000 views. It is the international version of the Lumia Icon released earlier exclusively for Verizon. The Lumia 930 is identical to the Icon in nearly every way except you get you a variety of extra color options with the Lumia 930. It features a 5-inch Full HD display, 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. In the back you have a 20MP PureView camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and ZEISS optics.

3. Windows Phone 8.1 Cortana preview

Our hands-on preview for Cortana on Windows Phone 8.1 comes in with about 320,000 views. This video was fun because we shot it before the official announcement at Build 2014. We were really excited playing with Cortana and knew Windows Phone users were going to love her, too.

2. Surface Pro 3 Review

The second most popular Windows Central video is our Surface Pro 3 review with around 440,000 views. At 1.7 pounds (27.2 ounces), and featuring a 12-inch display, the Surface Pro 3 is an immense tablet by today's standards. However, it is only 9.1mm thin. It features a 12-inch 2160 x 1440 display with a taller aspect ratio at 3:2 compared to previous 16:9 ratio. We have more details in the review, so go watch it along with the written version!

1. Cortana vs. Siri vs. Google Now

Drum roll. The most popular video on Windows Central for 2014 is the epic battle between Cortana, Siri, and Google Now. You've all watched it for a total of 633,000 views! We take all the three voice assistants through some basic tasks. We tried to be fair and give them all a chance to perform and sure enough, they all did. What's the take away? We'll let you decide.

  • All 5 were amazing..!! Surface one was the best for me..!!
  • They never did a review article on 1320 .... Much strange...
  • A comparison between Lumia devices and pro cameras such as Canon.
  • Canon's gonna win
  • Article: Canon wins. Doesn't matter how good a Lumia (or any other smartphone) camera is, it isn't going to be as good as a DSLR or high-end compact. At least not right now.
  • We don't want to win, what we want is to show off that you can your phone to take a pro photos in different conditions, and easily + pay one and get a pro can in your pocket is a good marketing strategy (I guess)
  • That's why Microsoft did it..!! S/
  • I would say it is a 1020 vs a Canon PowerShot SX50 (which still costs like 300-400).
  • Cool
  • Comparison between Lumia and ISHEEP devices, such as 520 vs 6 :)
  • That'd be a stupid comparison, the iPhone 6 would beat the 520 hands down. You can't fairly compare high end flagship to low end budget device.
  • umm, why would they do that, the 6 would totaly slam the 520, maybe a high end Windows (Phone) vs the 6.
  • His suggestion is partly valid and something we will absolutely be considering (it's already something we do across Mobile Nations.) The other part is total crap. I'll leave you guys to decide which is which!
  • First I want to say, nice to meet mr Richard and welcome to WC, secondly, I'm not saying that we would win, but at least we can show that WP runs great on the lowest Lumia, it gives you great experience and features which can and sometimes can't be found on an ISHEEP, that will help us show that you can pay less and get more when buy a Lumia not am iPhone.
  • "Pay less and get more"
Well except 2-3 little features low-end Lumia series hasn't got anything in it to take on even the 5s..!! It will result in bad/negative marketing of the Lumia series instead..!!
It's like comparing a Lamborghini Murcielago with a McLaren 650S when ye have got the Veneno/Aventador..!!
  • It would end as soon as any top game would be tested. It absolutely makes no sense to compare an entry level device with a flagship, they aren't for the same audience. Also stop refering to people using iphones as isheep, it only makes you sound more like an entrenched fanboy
  • What you suggest is already known fact, no need for that. Everyone in tech and in normal audience knows that WP can run smooth on low end devices. There has been tons of those videos on youtube from other tech sites and it was talked here numerous times too. And about Richard Devine ... "welcome to WC"?, lol, he is Managing Editor for Windows Central, you didn't check that? :)
  • How about some nostalgia with a comparison of iPhone 5C/S and our own Lumia 620/625. That at least sounds better...
  • The only thing the 520 would beat the iCrap 6 in would be in the unbendability test. Apart from that, it would be total slaughter.
  • Congratulations!!!!! Happy New Year To Windows Central Team and Windows Fans in all over the world
  • 930 kicks ass yo!
  • I actually bought my 1320 after watching your review! Thanks... Keep doing what you are.
  • The last video doesn't show up in the app, and one about opera shows up twice.
  • Are you ready for some football! 'Murican style.
  • You drunk..??
  • I am not Aman. Just ready for some football in the new year!
  • I'll be the assist then..!!
  • Yes I am. I got Oregon over Florida state and Alabama over Ohio state. And the Cowboys over Detroit.
  • I got an Oregon Alabama Championship and Detroit winning.
  • I love the 1320
  • I want Cortana to show weather in Celsius.. Is that possible?
  • Right now, no
  • Yes, in Canada shows and tells me the weather in celsius
  • Depends what country you live in, and what country you set your phone to use
  • Oh really @stevethenerd..?? I thought that Cortana showed weather only in USA Region and that too only in Fahrenheits..!!
  • No, shows weather in other alpha regions and based on the common metric in that region
  • Ohhhhkkk
  • You can ask her to show you the weather in Celsius.
  • Man she cheated me..!!
  • 1320 was best one and my favourite... WPC was first to unbox 1320 and to review it
  • Iphone is a great device. Microsoft has to do better with their platform. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
