Xbox One game installs are bigger than ever, making it hard to store everything you need on the console. Halo 5: Guardians and Gears of War 4 are among titles surpassing 100GB, occupying over a fifth of the entry-level Xbox One S internal drive. Factoring in 4K updates, even the Xbox One X's 1TB hard drive results in a constant struggle for space.
After uninstalling unwanted games, there's a chance some internal drive space is still being wasted. Expansions and other add-on content can unknowingly collect behind the scenes. Here's how to clean up leftover add-ons using Microsoft's cleanup tool.
How to clean up leftover Xbox One add-ons
Microsoft's leftover add-ons cleanup tool brings attention to any add-on content installed where the main game isn't present. Automatically installed content and leftover expansions can collect here, however, Microsoft provides the ability to remove them in a single click.
- Open Settings on your Xbox One.
- Select the System tab.
- Choose the Storage tile.
- Select Make more space.
- Ensure the Leftover add-ons tab is selected. The size displayed in the top left of the screen shows how much storage will be cleared.
- Select Uninstall all.
This will uninstall all listed content, freeing up space as previously listed in the top left of the screen. How much space have you saved using this method? Drop into the comments section below and share your experience.
