Angry Birds Star Wars II

Angry Birds Star Wars II lands on the Store for Xbox Windows Phone a day early

Behold, young Padawans, as Angry Birds Star Wars II is now live on the Store for Windows Phone 8 users—and it’s even a day early from the official September 19 launch date (beating out iOS and Android). What is even more fantastic? Those with a Lumia 520 or other 512 MB devices can get in on the action too.

The game weighs in at 32 MB and will cost you 99 cents (with a free trial). The epic saga continues in the follow up to the original Angry Birds Star Wars game, and we have to admit, it’s looking very fresh.

Featuring excellent HD graphics optimized for Windows Phone 8 and even optional in-app purchases (yes, they’re not going away), Angry Birds Star Wars II should keep many of you busy while in class, at work or avoiding your significant other (hey, we all do it).

So what’s new in version II? This edition of the game is focused on the god-awful prequel movies, but hey, that doesn’t mean it can’t be a fun game! It features the Pork Federation and you can even “Join the Pork Side” to play as “the fearsome Darth Maul, Emperor Palpatine” and more. And yes, Darth Maul has his patented double-lightsaber, which should be a blast to use in this game.

That’s actually hella cool.

You also get

  • 30+ PLAYABLE CHARACTERS! Our biggest line-up ever of playable characters – Yoda, pod-racing Anakin, Mace Windu, Jango Fett and many more!
  • BECOME A JEDI OR SITH MASTER! So many Bird and Pork Side levels to master, plus a bonus reward chapter and a ton of achievements to unlock!

Even though the Angry Birds thing is getting a bit old, we’re suckers for Star Wars tie ins, which is probably what Rovio is expecting. So yeah, instant purchase for us.

My friend just confirmed it came out for iphone yesterday. Just sent me a screenshot. Still, it's pretty close.

Dan, you know the NSA just read this.  When you get home, check to see if there is a wifi for "Surveillance van #42".  If so, run!

Episode 3 was decent, other than the slightly jarring turn Anakin takes going to the dark side.  Was just too sudden without enough to justify how fast and extreme it happened.
Back on topic: Yay WP getting a high profile game first!

Slightly jarring?
Anakin: Don't kill Mace!
Palpatine: Join the Dark Side!
Anakin: OK!
Ummm...yeah. Kinda killed the movie for me. Ep II, though, I quite liked outside the romance between Anakin and Padme, which was just as forced as the switch from light to dark.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-one thinks the prequels were any good. Particularly Darth Vader's comedy shout at the end of the third one.

EPIII was the best of the three and that's just because it was much darker and forboding.  Though the "noooooooo" at the end made me (and everyone else) cringe, lol.

Humph, I'll be terrible but I love the entire star wars universe. From the old republic jedi/sith wars to the gungans giving Naboo personality to R2-D2 saving everyone's butts, to Lando being as smooth and cool as he is

Humm...just don't get why all the series of angry birds are all named "angry birds"
only why for me to determine is by looking at the icon

I use to want Xbox Live enabled games, but not do much anymore. To me it just means games that if they have issues, will never be fixed.

Now if popcap could get that PvsZ 2 to my Lumia I'd be a happy man. Trying to resist playing on my fiancees iPad but its so dang hard!

Top of the line game released first on WP before iOS and Android. Holy crap, snow storm is coming.

They also have it on Android. But still, it's good to see it released at the same time specially for an Xbox title.

Wow!  I was surprised when I told my Apple friends that I finally got Star Wars 2 thinking it's been out for Apple for a while.  Little to my surprise they said it's not out yet for Apple.  I thought they were joking.  Finally, got some bragging rights!

Xbox enabled?  Sweet.  Maybe (just maybe) a glimmer of hope that the Xbox certification process for WP games has been re-evaluated and simplified.

Nah. I'm pretty sure Microsoft just kisses rovios arse to get their games.on WP. If not 99% of the world would complain about apps like they do with insta...

Since it supports 720p I'd say no. That being said, I'm glad my focus died and was able to upgrade to my 1020 last week. Loving WP8!

I don't even try these anymore, I straight up buy them. So glad they did release it a day earlier, specially being an Xbox game.

Now it's also time for Zeptolab (Cut the Rope T.T ,Pudding Monsters, etc) and Halfbrick (Age of zombies,Monster dash, fish out of water etc.) to show us some love!
Also there are already hundreads of amazing indie games on the WP store that could be easily Xbox branded!!
Microsoft and Xbox must make moves like this now that are living a prosperity period!!!!
If you agree support my suggestion!

As for the game, already bought it to support Rovio that supports WP!!!
Easily the best Angry Birds Game!!!Great concept!

It's very sad to have devs to support our OS with top quality games (that also are powered with xbox live achievements)
and have a buggy OS that begins to overheat the after 10-20min of gameplay and cause a related massive battery consumption ~20-30%/hour!!!Issues like this need to be fixed ASAP!
It's very annoying!!Changed 2 HTC 8X and one Lumia 920 because of that and sadly nothing has changed! If anyone can help please contact me!I want to play games like this on my WP like i did on my iPhone 4s!!

It is pretty damn awesome that we get this the same time as iOS and Android but hurry up Rovio and roll out Rovio accounts. I hate repeating levels on my phone and tablet.

I am not sure I can take that much Star Wars.
Since Disney brought the rights they seem to try to milk as much money out of it, they already announce a THIRD trilogy!!!
I am sure the money is good but isn't ROVIO worried that this would somehow dilute its own IP?
DISCLAMER: I'm a Trekky!

I'm not so sure Disney is to blame. I remember when the prequel trilogy came out. It was pretty much a cash grab for all involved. It just made the sting of having the movies being as awful as they are that much worse.

Almost done with the story levels. Little short (compared to other AB), but more levels are on the way. Rovio never disappoints with how much free content they add post launch. I'm not sure how they can top this game. So many characters with unique abilities. It's very fun.

+1 I'm pretty amazed with the content and it does gave some good replay value. Just when I thought this was another dull AB. :)

I went back to the first one after playing some of the second... And the second is so much more awesome, I had no idea how cool and how many characters they added. Better sounds also.

WP7 is XP masterdam95. It was painfully obvious since MS left it to fend for itself after Mango and Joe Belfiore's slight of hand failed to attract the attention of developers. It got 7.8 which turned out to be nothing more than "cosmetic" and now its coolest days are behind it. It still works as well or better than most android devices, it just didn't get a date for the prom. I had to make a move to WP8 and you do too.

Anyone else experiencing the device getting really hot after 10-15 min of game play??? Feeling a little worried about this...

It will get hot but it won't damage anything. If you have WiFi turned on you can turn off your data and that actually really does help, not only with the heat but with battery drain as well.

No mention of telepods support, no option in game? It was announced windows phone would support the telepods add ons and on the Hasbro website it also says windows phone is supported. Rather disappointed that this feature is not available like the other systems or is yet to be enabled?
