Are OLED TVs finally affordable enough this Black Friday? With prices starting under $550, this is the time to finally get your dream TV
OLED TVs are still more expensive in general than other technologies, but Black Friday deals are making that pill easier to swallow.
For years now, I've had my eyes set on an OLED TV for my living room — but life and other responsibilities have prevented me from pulling the trigger this long. Every Black Friday, the temptation grows as prices on OLED TVs continue to come down. So, is this the year to finally say "yes" to my dream TV?
The jury is still out on me, but the answer may be easier for you. OLED technology still costs more in general than the more common "IPS LCD" tech found in more affordable TVs, but this Black Friday is seeing OLED TVs dip well below the "$600" threshold.
If you've been waiting for a good opportunity, I'll highlight some of the best deals I've seen, including the awesome LG 48" Class B5 OLED Smart TV for just $529.99 at BestBuy.com — a $770 discount that does undercut sales I've seen in previous Black Fridays.
If you're looking for the picture-perfect entry to OLED TVs, this is it. It's not the largest at 48-inches, but you're still getting a critically acclaimed 4K, 120Hz LG OLED display with webOS for easy streaming, plenty of gaming features to get the most out of your console, and Dolby integration for the best visual and audio experience.
65-inches is the most popular TV size, and for good reason. If you're looking for an affordable OLED TV with the size you need, Samsung's entry-level S84F is a reliable, high-quality 4K, 120Hz OLED TV with Tizen smart software and a price tag firmly under the dreaded $1,000 marker.
The price of a TV rises exponentially as the size of its screen does, so it's no wonder massive OLED TVs are often bank-breaking. This LG TV is the much bigger brother of the sub-$600 TV listed earlier, and is a great option for those that need something truly large. 83-inches is a lot of a TV, but you're also getting a lot of good TV.
Finally, we have the TV that most tempts me personally. Honestly, this isn't the highest discount I've seen on this LG masterpiece, but it's still a great price for one of the best TVs any amount of money can buy. There's a reason LG is the go-to for quality OLED TVs, and that's because the company has spent over a decade perfecting them.
It's easy to believe Black Friday discounts aren't as dramatic as in previous years, and there are plenty of reasons to scrutinize deals before swiping your card, but that doesn't mean there aren't diamonds hidden in the rough.
A lot of people (myself included) would love to have an OLED TV in their home, but have been waiting for the right opportunity. TVs have been a centerpiece of Black Friday for a long time, too. Fortunately, there are some deals on OLED TVs worth taking advantage of, if you know where to look.
Being able to secure a high-quality, feature-packed OLED TV for just $529.99 at BestBuy.com is incredibly tempting, at the very least, especially since you're getting it from LG, OLED TV royalty. You can still get a great 65-inch OLED TV for $899.99 at BestBuy.com if you need a larger display but don't want to spend more than $1,000, too.
Being able to buy my dream OLED TV for $1,399.99 at BestBuy.com may not be the most ridiculous sale (it's a pretty standard "big sale" price for this class of TV), but it is still a good deal.
All that is to say I do believe OLED TVs are affordable enough to consider this Black Friday, as long as you're looking at the most lucrative deals. They're still not going to priced as low as non-OLED TVs, of course (here's a great 55-inch, 4K MiniLED TV for only $499.99 at BestBuy.com, for example), but right now is an excellent time to treat yourself to the vibrant colors, perfect blacks, and responsive performance of OLED.

FAQ
What is OLED?
OLED stands for "Organic Light-Emitting Diode," and is a form of display technology. Compared to IPS LCD, QLED, and MiniLED (the other common TV display types), OLED doesn't rely on a backlight, and instead produces light by passing electrical currents organic molecules. OLED is generally more expensive to produce than other mainstream display types, but comes with a range of benefits.
How are OLED TVs better than other TVs?
OLED displays boast a number of strengths, but the most dramatic upgrade with OLED is perfect contrast. Because OLED displays don't have backlights and instead individually light each pixel, dark areas on the screen can actually turn off. Combine that with punchier and more saturated colors, and OLED screens generally look far punchier and more detailed. You also get improved performance and responsiveness (which is great for gaming). OLED displays are flexible, too, so are used for foldable or rollable devices.
Is it worth buying an OLED TV this Black Friday?
If image quality and performance is incredibly important to you, then an OLED TV might be perfect. OLED TVs are almost always more expensive than traditional IPS LCD or QLED TVs, but Black Friday does deliver some worthwhile discounts. If you're in the market for a high-quality TV and find a deal that fits your budget in this article, I wouldn't hesitate to take advantage.
