NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has been vocal about the impact of generative AI on the world, specifically on jobs as the technology gains broad adoption. He categorically indicated that careers like coding might be dead in the water with the rapid prevalence of AI, urging the youth to explore alternative career paths in areas like biology, farming, manufacturing, and more.
The chipmaker has greatly benefited from the tech world's focus on AI, especially due to the rise in demand for GPUs to foster sophisticated advances in the ever-evolving landscape. Consequently, the chipmaker briefly became the first company to hit $4 trillion in market capitalization.
Despite claims that the tech world is seemingly trapped in an AI bubble that could implode soon, Huang dismissed the claims. "I don't believe we are in the AI bubble. And the reason for that is, we're going through a natural transition from an old computing model based on general-purpose computing to accelerated computing," added Huang. And now, the executive is championing the integration and adoption of AI by NVIDIA employees across their workflows.
In a leaked meeting recording exclusively obtained by Business Insider, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang indicated: "I want every task that is possible to be automated with artificial intelligence to be automated with artificial intelligence," Huang added. "I promise you, you will have work to do."
"My understanding is Nvidia has some managers who are telling their people to use less AI. Are you insane?"
NVIDIA isn't the only company that's heavily integrating AI into its workflow. At the beginning of the year, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff indicated that the company was seriously debating hiring software engineers, only to reveal that the company uses AI to write up to 50% of its code while citing incredible productivity gains.
Similarly, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella indicated that the company uses AI to write up to 30% of its code, which helped it save $500 million. As it stands, some professionals are already losing jobs to AI, and the most viable way forward appears to be upskilling, particularly in AI-related fields.
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei claimed AI has the potential to slash up to 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs, leaving Gen Z without jobs. It will be interesting to see what the future job market looks like with the rapid prevalence and adoption of AI.
