At E3 2019, Astro revealed the latest Astro A50 Wireless Headset and Base Station. The A50 features a host of improvements to audio performance, wireless range, docking, charging, microphone clarity, and more. It's designed to provide an immersive gaming experience.

Astro Vice President of Marketing Aron Drayer said the following when discussing the headset.

The A50 remains one of the most popular headsets on the market today due to its outstanding audio fidelity, exceptional comfort and durability, unmatched connectivity and upgradeability and more. Our new A50 improves upon all these features, providing gamers with inspired technology that enables them to perform at their best.

The A50 is currently available to preorder for Xbox One and PC or PlayStation 4 and PC. You'll have to choose which console to get it for. It costs $300 on Amazon and should ship in Summer 2019.

  • Does the base station have a 3.5 mm jack like the previous one?
  • Yes. It does.
  • How is the physical build and sound quality of the Astro compared to the Turtle Beach 800x headset? I'm ready to kick Turtle Beach to the curb because the physical build quality of the 800x is disappointing since I'm now on my 3rd one. When the 800x gets hot over the ears I'll cant one of the ear cups to the side like you see football coaches do, and in time the adjustable base where the ear cup slides in and out of cracks. That is why I've never liked plastic for that kind of parts, and would prefer aluminum instead. The 800x has great sound but now I think Turtle Beach is getting competition where we are not limited in our choices anymore.
  • It STILL outputs at 20,000 kHz and this set costs $300? No thanks, I'd rather wait for a Xbox version of the Arctic Pro Wireless.. massively superior headset
