Borderlands 2, Assassin's Creed Rogue among the latest batch of Xbox backward compatible games

A new batch of games are hitting the Xbox One backward compatibility list, led chiefly by the likes of Borderlands 2 (opens in new tab) and Assassin's Creed Rogue (opens in new tab). Those two are just the tip of the iceberg, however, as Xbox's Larry Hryb has announced that there are 4 additional titles hitting the list today as well.

Other arrivals include Gyromancer (opens in new tab), which is an interesting fusion of RPG and puzzle gameplay from a collaboration between Square Enix and Pop Cap. Also hitting the list is Moon Diver (opens in new tab), which is a side-scrolling co-op action game in which you fight to reclaim a ruined earth in the year 2081.

King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match (opens in new tab) has also joined the list, offering a retro King of Fighters arcade feel with an absolutely gigantic roster. Rounding things out is Space Invaders: Infinity Gene (opens in new tab), which brings 143 stages that start out as classic Space Invaders and gradually evolve as you play.

Don't forget that Borderlands 2 is set to go free for Xbox Live Gold members as part of March's Games with Gold from March 1-15. So, if you don't mind waiting a bit, you won't have to shell out the $20 the game currently fetches at the Xbox Marketplace. And for more backward compatible titles, be sure to check out our comprehensive rundown of each game on the list.

  • Knew about Borderlands 2 due to them giving it away for free next month but man some other nice games to come along with it as well. I'm very happy to see more games added as time goes on.
  • People, buy Assassin's Creed Rogue! It doesn't matter if you think you have open world or Assassin's Creed fatigue.
The game is amazing! Brilliant open world, marvelous story with great pacing, likeable main character, tons of gameplay variety. It's everything AC III and IV were and more. Even Haytham is in the game! Definitely one of the best entries on the franchise, right up there with II, Brotherhood, III (fight me :P) and IV.
    I can't praise it enough.
  • I don't own an Xbox and have been desperately waiting for that game to arrive as backcompatible title.
  • Words of advice, Rogue is best played after III and IV to enjoy all the juicy bits.
  • After this comment I'm probably going to pick it up have all the others
  • You're gonna love it. Played every entry up to Unity at least? 😃
  • Now I feel bad about not buying it when it was on sale, I didn't see a point to go back to my 360 when I'm not enjoying games on the One.
  • im an AC game collector.  Thats pretty much one crossed out.  We need Liberation now.
  • Glad to see Moon Diver backwards compatible at last! It's a weird unofficial Strider game with online co-op - pretty neat, despite the punishing difficulty.
  • I'm impatiently waiting for the ninja gaiden series ugh
  • no kidding.   i love the game/series
  • Finally! I've been waiting for AC Rogue since it came out. I purposely skipped buying it for the PS3 because I hoped they'd release a next gen version.
They didn't but BC is good enough.
  • PC is the next-gen version :D
  • LOL Yeah...if I still was 15, it would be. I'm now way too old to be bothered with PC gaming. My PC is now a work tool and my work doesn't include playing games I'm afraid :\
  • I'm just saying the PC version of Rogue has pretty nice improvements over the X360 version.
  • I don't doubt it. PC versions of games are generally better than the console versions (except for GTA IV...). But I didn't meant next-gen as in "better version". I meant it just as a proper release like they did with Black Flag. And seeing as they released Black Flag for the PS3 and PS4, 360 and One, I was expecting them to do the same with Rogue.
  • I'm so stoked that Rogue is available, now I just have to try and find a copy of it somewhere.
  • Space invaders infinity gene is awesome. it's also super hard to finish on one credit, still try to to do it.   later -1
