Dell and EMC complete $67 billion merger under the new Dell Technologies name

As expected, Dell has now officially completed its previously announced $67 billion merger with EMC. The combined company will now be known as Dell Technologies.
The new, but still privately owned, Dell Technolgies will have a number of subsidiaries, including Boomi, Pivotal, RSA, SecureWorks, Virtustream and VMware, the latter of which will continue to be publicly traded:
Michael Dell, chairman and CEO of Dell Technologies, said, "We are at the dawn of the next industrial revolution. Our world is becoming more intelligent and more connected by the minute, and ultimately will become intertwined with a vast Internet of Things, paving the way for our customers to do incredible things. This is why we created Dell Technologies. We have the products, services, talent and global scale to be a catalyst for change and guide customers, large and small, on their digital journey."
Dell Technologies will continue to sell Windows-based desktops, laptops and tablets under its Dell brand, and gaming PCs with the Alienware branding.

This needs to change. We don't need the big players controlling everything and deciding who should do what.
