Dell updates the Precision family of laptops, now thinner, lighter and more powerful

Dell has updated the company's line of Precision laptops, as well as significantly refreshing the Precision tower desktop solutions. The new laptops are thinner, lighter and more powerful than previous generations, sporting new processors, and faster memory and storage. There are also options for 4K displays and up to 64GB of RAM. Dell is going all-out with its latest generation of Precision laptops.

The OEM is taking full advantage of Intel's 6th generation of processors (quad-core Core i7 and Core i5), and has even opted to install Intel Xeon processors. Graphics power from both AMD and NVIDIA have been called upon to deliver content on PremierColor 4K Ultra HD displays. Everything is contained inside a new chassis with carbon fibre and aluminum for the lighter and thinner end result.

Here are the Dell Precision laptops affected by the refresh:

  • Dell Precision 17 7000 Series (7710)
  • Dell Precision 15 7000 Series (7510)
  • Dell Precision 15 5000 Series (5510)
  • Dell Precision 15 3000 Series (3510)

And for the towers, Dell has improved the components inside the world's smallest small form factor workstation chassis. The new Precision workstations will be made available in the EMEA region later in October.

  • Good update on the workstation machines, but what about the Latitudes?
  • Nice, it's about time. Waiting for thinner latitudes too.
  • seems that they haven't release an updated version of their business laptops. Latitudes are too damn heavy and bulky...
  • Xeon?
  • Yep, Intel has released the Mobile Xeon processors for mobile workstations to use, which this is.
  • 64Gigs of Ram?? Damn!
  • Yes! And ddr4! Why didn't the alienware updates get this????
  • My wife might finally give up her Precision M90 running XP. Or we'll get a SSD for it and load on Win10 and see how long it will live.
  • Dangit I just got a new 4800 3 months ago...
  • I did, too.  M4800.  I'm a project engineer always on the go, a thinner and lighter laptop would be nice for sure....  It'll be 2 years before I get upgraded again.  boo
  • Coming to a Enterprise near you!  I actually cannot wait for a refresh to Win10 and a 5510.  Add in Skype with real-time translation and we have a drastically changed experience next year.
  • My next Dell will still be an Inspiron.
  • When are we going to see these on Dell's site??
  • I have sworn to get a Precision laptop once my youngest leaves for college. (In 17.5 years) Wait, I might need the money for his tuition then. Doh! Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • LOL, I know exactly how you feel!
  • Am waiting for Refreshed Inspiron series
  • The image used looks pretty thick to me
  • that laptop in pic surely doesn't look thin
  • I believe that's the 17" version. The 15" (5000 series?) is basically the xps15. Very very svelte.
  • Still supporting the E series docking stations or is this a full on XPS rebadge scenario where we flash the video card BIOS and pretend everything else is suddenly professional grade?
  • Going to be Thunderbolt 3.0 docking station charging and support for 3 UHD monitors...
  • Now I can truly get the M6800 with the AMD M6100 FirePro Graphics for cheaper than it is now :)
  • dell is doing great!!!
