Download the Anthem demo right now! (update)

Updated February 1, 2019: The Anthem "Open Demo" is now available to everyone until February 3.

Anthem is an upcoming shared world third-person shooter from BioWare. BioWare is the studio behind famous franchises like Dragon Age and Mass Effect. Anthem is expected to launch on February 22, 2019, but that hasn't stopped the developer from releasing new details about the project.

While we all know about the game's various customization options and story at this point, you can get your hands on the experience on January 25. A special "VIP Demo" is taking place for three days. However, you have to either subscribe to EA Access or preorder the game to play early. The VIP Demo requires you to log into your EA Account to verify your status it seems. Anyone can download the 23 GB file on Xbox One X, but not everyone can play it. There will be another demo available in early February so don't delete the download if you want to experience the title again.

The VIP Demo takes place from January 25 to January 27, a few weeks before Anthem launches... Preorder, join Origin Access, or join EA Access to experience the VIP Demo. As part of the VIP Demo, you'll also get an exclusive in-game item to show you were the first to play. If you are an Origin Access or EA Access subscriber or if you digitally prordered on Origin, Xbox Store, or PlayStation Store, you have been automatically registered for the VIP Demo and do not need a code. If you've preordered Anthem through any other retailers, you will need a code to access the VIP Demo... Log in to the Anthem Demo with your EA Account.

Hopefully the game will be a polished experience when it launches in February. However, only time will tell. A lot of gamers are skeptical given how Mass Effect: Andromeda turned out.

  • Bioware has a decent track record and I did enjoy Mass Effect 1 through 3 and Andromeda. Plus KOTOR 1 and 2, Jade Empire, and Dragon Age. So it has potential. I just hope it isn't anything like Destiny, which is the vibe I keep getting.
  • I'm not joining "another " gaming subscription service. Especially if it means going back to EA's.
  • Somehow I find the concept of a "VIP demo" just a bit pretentious...
  • Soooo this article states you can DL the demo but it doesn't say how and I can't find it in the XBO store
