Frostpunk is a city-building, survival, and strategy game that's quite popular on PC. In a frozen world, people develop steam-powered machines to oppose the overwhelming cold. You, the city ruler, have to manage both the inhabitants and the infrastructure. Leaders face numerous challenges, frequently questioning morality and the basic foundation of what we consider as a society.
According to the developer, 11 bit studios, in order to succeed, you have to focus on optimization and resource management, even if they clash with empathy and thoughtful decision-making. Luckily, there's also a fair bit of exploration because you have to venture outside the city walls to find resources and other items.
Frostpunk: Console Edition which features controller support is now available for digital preorder on the Microsoft Store. It costs $30 and is a pretty small download of a little over 3 GB. If you loved the original on PC, or are curious about why so many love the game, be sure to check it out on Xbox One.
In Windows Central's review of the PC version, Brendan Lowry said, "Despite the gameplay-slowing visual similarities between structures, Frostpunk overall is a wonderfully emotional and engaging city-builder strategy game that will challenge you with tough tasks and even tougher choices."
