Gears Tactics received great reviews when it released on PC in April. The XCOM-style turn-based strategy game set in the Gears of War universe tasks players with recruiting and commanding a squad to hunt down a monster-making mastermind.
Xbox players will get their chance to try the game soon, with the launch likely coinciding with the release of the Xbox Series X. Here's everything we know about its pending console release.
Gears Tactics Xbox One, Xbox Series X release date
The Gears of War franchise has tradtionally been Xbox focused, so while Gears Tactics launched as a PC exclusive, it's not surprising that Microsoft's console would be its next stop. Microsoft announced in April that Gears Tactics would be coming to Xbox One in late 2020, now we know that it's coming on November 10, 2020, to launch simultaneously with the when the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.
What we know about Gears Tactics for Xbox
Gears Tactics has exceptionally well-optimized PC settings, which might be why Microsoft is taking its time to come up with something that will give console players just as much control. The game will be optimized for Xbox Series X, playing in 4K Ultra HD at 60 FPS. Players who purchase the game will have access to it on both the Xbox One and Xbox Series X through Smart Delivery.
Gears Tactics Xbox price and preorder
Gears Tactics is not available for pre-order for Xbox One or Xbox Series X yet. A price also has not been announced, though it will likely match the $60 cost of the PC version.
Will Gears Tactics come to Xbox Game Pass?
Gears Tactics is already already available via Xbox Game Pass PC subscriptions and will also be included in the console version. Subscribers have been able to pre-load the game to their Xbox One since early August.
