What you need to know

  • Grounded is a bite-sized survival game from Obsidian Entertainment.
  • The title is currently in Early Access, and is set to receive its first major content drop at the end of the month.
  • The team is also planning an update roadmap, as well as a community issues forum for players to track issues and fixes.
  • Grounded's first content update is coming August 27, 2020.

Grounded has had an eventful seventeen days, and continues to grow after crossing the one million players mark on the second day, even while in Early Access and Game Preview. Today, the dedicated team behind Grounded released a Community Update that outlines some of the future plans for Grounded, as well as when players can expect the first content updated for their miniature open world survival game.

Grounded has already received patchs and hotfixes, with the 0.1.2 update rolling out just a few days ago with tons of fixes in tow, but has yet to add any new content like different bug species, crafting recipes, and story elements. This is going to change on August 27, 2020, with the first of promised monthly updates from Obsidian Entertainment rolling out to all Grounded's shrunken players.

In addition to new content on the horizon, Obsidian Entertainment has also promised they're working on a trifecta of new community-focused features that should help make this journey more structured and insightful. The first of which is a roadmap, which should outline future update plans, and when players can expect certain changes to occur in-game. Secondly is a collection of concept art, screenshots, and key art for Grounded in a Fan Kit, which players can use in videos, blogs, and more if they want to talk about the game. Or just as high quality Grounded wallpapers!

Finally, Obsidian Entertainment has heard that players are looking for a better way to keep track of known issues and upcoming fixes with Grounded, a way to better submit feedback, and receive updates from the Grounded team. This will come in the form of a Community Issues Trello board, which is actively being worked on. These are all things players of Grounded have to look forward in the near future, although we only have an exact date for that first content drop.
