What you need to know

  • Xbox is having a busy day, with announcement after announcement.
  • Undertale, the indie PC classic, is officially launching on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles on March 16, 2021.
  • Not only is Undertale coming to Xbox consoles, it'll also be available through Xbox Game Pass on day one.
  • Undertale will feature console-specific enhancements on Xbox consoles, and some Xbox-exclusive content.

Today has been a major day for Xbox announcements. Five classic Bethesda titles have gotten FPS Boost, co-op loot shooter Outriders is launching into Xbox Game Pass, and now Undertale is officially heading to Xbox consoles (opens in new tab) on March 16, 2021. Undertale is landing on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One consoles, and is even coming to Xbox Game Pass at the same time!

For those who aren't already aware, Undertale is an indie classic that features retro visuals but very inspired gameplay. Every interaction is unique, and every monster you fight is an individual. Undertale celebrated its fifth anniversary on PC late last year and is already available on PlayStation and Switch consoles. Now, Undertale has come full circle with its newly announced release on Xbox.

Undertale launches tomorrow, and can either be installed through Xbox Game Pass or purchased separately from the Microsoft Store for $14.99 (see below). It will feature Xbox Achievements and cloud saves, but it is not Xbox Play Anywhere and does not sync with the already-available Windows 10 version of Undertale (due to the differences in the games).

Undertale is an established classic, and may count amongst the Best Games on Xbox Game Pass. Having trouble keeping up with everything happening with Xbox Game Pass? We keep a list of everything coming and going from Xbox Game Pass. You can also invest in one of the Best External SSDs for Xbox Series X|S, so you don't have to worry about running out of space for all the awesome games on Xbox Game Pass.

  • Cool, my kids loved this game, now I'll give it a whirl on the ol' xbox
  • I am one of those "unaware" and was wondering what the game was about. Too bad this article doesn't actually say what the game is about.
