A rather amusing running joke on the internet is checking to see if you can fish in a video game. There's also a weird subset of people who are obsessed with fishing in games where it doesn't quite belong. Well, we can now answer the question: Can you fish in Minecraft Dungeons? Yes, but you're not fishing for, well, fish. Here's how to use the fishing rod in Minecraft Dungeons.

The fishing rod in Minecraft Dungeons doesn't help you catch dinner, or anything as silly and mundane as that. Instead, it's an effective and brutal tool for melee-focused brawlers to entrap their prey and annihilate them at close-quarters before they can get away. That's right, this fishing rod still has a hook, but it's intended for your numerous enemies in Dungeons.

This tool belongs in the artifacts category, which is a selection of powerful weapons, items, and tools that grant powers and abilities to shift the ebb and flow of any battle you participate in. Many of them are pretty expected, like fireworks that launch devastating explosions, or items that increase your speed or attack strength. One of the more interesting ones is definitely the fishing rod, which is the perfect tool for any hack-and-slasher.

Using this artifact is pretty simple, if you know how to use artifacts in general. The fishing rod, in particular, has a short cooldown timer and can be used relatively often, with a singular purpose. If you're facing a foe that is attempting to get away from you (for example, ranged enemies like skeletons or summoners like evokers), you can use the fishing rod to draw them towards you.

You'll even stun the enemy momentarily, giving you just enough time to deal the final blow with your weapon of choice. This is useful for controlling the flow of energy around the battlefield and preventing your enemies from surrounding you and using ranged tactics to wear you down. Fishing rods cut through all of that and give you all the opportunity you need to dominate. Simple and effective.

Can't get away from you

Fishing rods reel the enemy to you, and then it's like shooting fish in a barrel. It's a great way to tip the scales of war. No enemy wants to be on the tail-end of a melee attacker with a fishing rod. If you're wielding a fishing rod, it's truly sink or swim for all your foes. Like a shark that's caught the scent of blood, you'll sink your hooks into everything that gets in your way. I will now stop making puns about the fishing rod in Minecraft Dungeons, before you decide to use it on me.
