Nokia announces launch of the Lumia 610 and Dark Knight Lumia 800 in India

Nokia has today announced The Dark Knight Rises limited edition Lumia 800 in India. The unique Windows Phone will be a steal with only 200 being made available for retail. The limited edition smartphone sports a laser etched Batman logo on the rear of the device, and will be made available from Nokia's website mid-July.

Reportedly priced at Rs. 24,999, which shares the same tag as the listed standard Lumia 800, it appears to be a solid deal for those interested in the franchise. As with The Dark Knight Rises Nokia Windows Phones launched elsewhere, the lucky owner will be able to take advantage of exclusive content, as well as an interactive game. Lumia owners can also download and install the exclusive app from the Marketplace.

If the Lumia 800 (or the Batman edition) isn't your cup of tea, the manufacturer also revealed the launch of the Lumia 610, which is priced at Rs. 12,999. Unfortunately, we're still waiting for the Lumia 900, and with Windows Phone 8 ("Apollo") drawing ever closer, it's looking less likely that many will choose to adopt such a late release.

  • No USD pricing comparison. It may be a steal, but users outside of India will probably want to understand how cheap they're priced too ;-)
  • Lumia 800 will be of 450$
Lumia 610 will be of 234$
  • In comparison iPhone 4S, 16 GB version is for 750$
  • Batman unheard of in India, should have done a Bollywood theme or cricket
  • I think the WP7 devices not being upgradeable to WP8 is being blown our of proportion. The average person walking into a phone store knows nothing about WP8. And easily halve the Android phones on shelves will not be upgradeable to ICS or Jellybean, yet they still sell.
  • This is true!
  • Yes that's true. Most of buyers don't read mobile/tech stuff and as a result they don't know what WP 8 is.
  • I have HTC HD7. Waiting happily for 7.8. Already have tango.
  • Am I the only one who thinks the Batman logo isn't really that noticeable? It could just be me...
  • I was hoping that they would release Nokia music and mix radio. I am disappointed. Nokia showing no love for Indians.
  • Joke of the day
  • What's the use of launching low priced cell phone when a person actually knows he will not get WP8..
