Saints Row teasing new game ahead of Gamescom 2021 Opening Night Live
A new Saints Row game could finally be on the way
What you need to know
- The Saints Row franchise is full of quirky, chaotic, and dark open-world adventure games.
- However, the series has fallen in popularity in recent years, with no all-new entries since 2013.
- The Saints Row team has teased the reveal of a brand-new full Saints Row game at Gamescom 2021 Opening Night Live.
- We don't know much about the game, but it looks like this is a completely new Saints Row experience, and possibly a reboot of the franchise.
After the disappointing release of Saints Row IV, the chaotic and humorous Saints Row franchise has languished without a single new game. Saints Row: The Third Remastered was an excellent revival of (arguably) the last great Saints Row game, but fans of this insane open-world series have been eagerly waiting for something new. Today, the Saints Row team has not-so-subtly teased the arrival of a brand-new Saints Row game at Gamescom 2021 during the Opening Night Live stream.

We don't have all the information on what this new Saints Row game will look like (after all, it hasn't been revealed yet), but with the official Saints Row website displaying a "Rebooting..." message and the team's cryptic responses on their social media, it's almost certain that this is a completely new Saints Row game (and not a remaster of an older title). It also seems likely that this Saints Row game isn't going to be "Saints Row V" and pick up where Saints Row IV left off, and instead will reboot the series and take it into a new direction.
We won't have long to wait to find out, fortunately, as Gamescom Opening Night Live airs on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021. If you want to make sure you don't miss anything, be sure to read about how to watch Gamescom 2021 and what to expect. If Deep Silver can properly capture what made earlier Saints Row games so special (and successfully bring the series into the modern video game industry), the new Saints Row title could be one of the best Xbox games around.
Need a great Saints Row game to quench your thirst in the meantime? In case you missed it, Saints Row: The Third Remastered was just Optimized for Xbox Series X|S for free, and it looks better than ever.
Remaster done right
Already great — getting better.
Saints Row: The Third Remastered is one of the best game remasters in recent years, and Deep Silver isn't finished yet. The game is about to be upgraded for next-gen consoles for free with improved visuals, performance, and more, on top of an expanded PC release.
