  • Wow! What an update! Hope this fixes the issue where Surface becomes unusable up when streaming a video (more so on facebook) and have to lock and unlock with the power button to get it back working. Never had any problems with Windows Hello from day one.

  • I would reallllllly like a fix for my SB that'll stop it from shutting down randomly during sleep and hibernation.
  • Snap. I'm having massive problems with mine, power button not waking up, can't start with type cover on if you went to sleep with it off.. I've dropped out of Insider to see if that helps.
  • Your machine is not powering down - it's not coming out of sleep state.  This is a problem with Windows and not Surface.  10586.218 fixed one of the bugs here, but two other updates are needed before a complete fix.  One from Intel and one from Windows.  These updates will not fix your issue.  You should change your power settings to use Hibernate instead of Sleep to fix it for now.
  • That's the thing, it happens when I set it to hibernation too. It's frustrating but I live with it.
  • Two updated failed for Surface Book :(
Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) Control Logic
Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) CSI2 Host Controller
  • same here
  • Same here with the Intel Control Logic driver.
  • That's a known problem and has since been corrected.  The IACAMERA64.SYS was failing with Windows Update.  That file has been acquiesced and won't impact folks going forward.  The problem is that the camera driver is no longer part of WU.  A fix is coming for those who hit the bug check but no ETA on a oneclick "cleanup".  The MSI's will also be coming some time next week most likely.
  • was able to update but after restart my SP4 won't turn on. :(
  • What? Are you serious. What happens when you try to turn it on?
  • Nothing happens, i tried the combination Power + Volume, Pressing for more than 10 secs. Only light i notice is from the charger. Even the type cover is off.
  • Hold the power button for 30 seconds and release. Then press it again.
  • it happends to me once, so i try to unlock it with Windows bello ande then it Works
  • LOL. O boy...
  • UPDATE:
I contact the support and he said that device went to deep sleep after update. He advise to press POWER+Volume Up for 15 sec  til i see the surface logo flash and continue pressing for another 15 sec then release, wait for 15 sec and turn on the surface. Redirected to a SURFACE UEFI page, select EXIT then RESTART NOW. Device should be working fine, it works for me.
PS, Updates wer not installed properly after I switch it on.
    TY to Paolo(MS Support)
  • I have run into the same issue. This solution also works for me. All updates seem to be installed except for "Microsoft driver update for Surface Embedded Controller Firmware" which requires another restart now.
  • Same issue on my Pro 4. Held the power button for 30 seconds, then the power + volume up for 15 more seconds and it worked. But getting error message when trying to install driver for signal imaging processor 2500. Everything else seems to have installed. Any suggestions? :|
  • Anybody know what a CoSar is? Never heard of it before, but apparently the surface has one and it's getting an update. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Hope they fix Windows Hello camera. Doesn't turn om sometimes. Still buggy.
  • Never had problems with it from day one.
  • Agreed. Hello on Surface Pro 4 is heaven and works very reliably. I wish the Lumia 950 was a fraction as reliable.
  • My SB has done it too. Very rare, but has happened.
  • Me either and I don't use it (start up in portrait? Neck ache). It's of more value on my 950XL where it won't work properly.
  • Lumia 950XL hello works as described mostly. Only had it for 4days. Good so far.
  • Same here, so far i haven't had an issue with my SP4 unless you count some games crashing.
  • My Surface Book camera never turns on any more. This update better fix that because it's ridiculous. Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
  • Yup, Surface Book users are having this issue. SP4 may be fine though.
  • After the updates today, my camera is turning on now with Windows Hello, so hopefully it is fixed now. Posted from Windows Central for Windows 10
  • Had my SP4 since October. No problems with Windows Hello.
  • Had my SP4 since October. No problems with Windows Hello.
  • my update installed fine; so far it looks like they finally fixed the graphical arficact errors when using firefox.

  • Good to know thanks!
  • can't wait to update!
  • Since last week I haven't been able to shut my Surface Pro 4 down without holding the button down for 10 - 20 seconds. It's also been very slow starting up. I hope the driver updates help.
  • Sounds like your windows 10 installation is corrupt, do a PC reset.
  • Surface Book...updates went smooth.  No issues.  Commendable--- the continued updates and fixes. Use all day/night long from CAD to email to WOW docked to a 24" :)
  • When are they gonna update Windows hello on phones? Or is it gonna start forever in beta? Sent from Lumia 950XL
  • Very, very good question. This needs improvement. Starting to wonder if improvement is elusive for them with this particular hardware.
  • Thought by now Windows hello would have been much better on phones. So much improvements can be made like unlocking while sideways or bright sunlight etc Sent from Lumia 950XL
  • Unlocking in bright sunlight is more of a hardware limitation. Windows Central for Windows 10-Microsoft Lumia 640
  • Would have liked for it to read our eyes from a further distance. Sent from Lumia 950XL
  • I'm sure that's possible.
  • Some people seem to be making a right pigs ear of the update. I had no problems, checked and install updates, reboot. Then had to reboot again to finish installing. Windows Hello didn't work the first time I rebooted so used my password instead. After that was fine on the second reboot. People having to force shutdown etc. implies your Windows 10 installation is corrupt. For those people I would recommend resetting and reinstall WIndows. At the moment my Surface Pro 4 is running very well and seems faster ;) plus looks like my battery is lasting a little longer too!
  • I'm glad to read your post. The last couple of updates for my SP4 have resolved any nagging issues I was still having. None of the nagging issues were really serious like what I experienced with the SP4 at launch with sleep and the display driver. Those were fixed for me in February. What was left were sometime annoyances like the SP4 not waking without a restart or the Surface Dock not turning on my monitor when the SP4 is turned on. Those problems are gone now. Windows Hello has never failed me. While I love the SP4 enough to have put up with the launch issues, I didn't recommend it to anyone who asked about it. Now, I do. As it operates now, it is the best piece of tech I've ever owned. I'm not on the Insider Program, but with some of the features I see coming this summer to Windows 10, the SP4 will get better still.
  • OMG! I installed the update and now my SP4 is completely dead!  It was showing the nice update progress bar in yellow and suddenly it went completely dead. Anybody knows what to do?
  • Miraculously it did wake up after quite a while (30 minutes or so), finished the update cycle and seems to work just fine now.
  • Was it plugged into the mains?  Over 50% power in the battery?  if not then... Oppps.   try the usual power and volume button thing
  • Worked fine for me :D
  • SP5 coming in June (rumoured). Can't wait to see what issues it has, hopefully MS can release something that works well out of the Box...i had SP2...issues, SP4...issues. Will get HP Spectre and Dell XPS 15 soon. Hope those work out the box, life's too short to waste on chasing companies who release unfinished or half baked un tested hardware
  • Do you have a source of the rumour?
  • I just searched for Surface Pro 5 and a few places said it may come before the Apple Mac Pro - who knows though!
  • Intel.  Intel is one of the crappiest companies on the planet for drivers.
  • XPS 15 will have its own set of Intel SkyLake and Intel/GPU problems. While the latest firmware update has resolved some issues, there are ongoing problems. Checkout the Dell forums. I find my XPS 15 useable but i often lockup or BSOD.
  • grrr Is there anything out there that just...works!
  • I hate to say it........Apple. But I still prefer my SP4 over a macbook
  • I had everything Apple years ago, it worked unfortunately didnt work with the rest of the world.
  • First try to install all the updates gave me a BSOD.Two updates failed on my SB after the second try: Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) Control Logic – Error 0x800f0203 Microsoft driver update for Surface Dock Integration – Error 0x800f0100 ..and keeping failing after reboot's and retries. Also my device manager shows that "Surface System Aggregator Firmware" and "Surface UEFI" could not start / have a warning. Did microsoft provide a download link to the drivers yet ? Like they did for the feb. update Any news on that ?
  • I got the blue screen as well, only my machine won't boot back up. All I get is the back lit keyboard fturning on and off every couple of seconds.
  • Same errors on those two updates on my Surface Pro 4. Also same blue screen on the first install of the updates. They really don't QA these updates at all anymore. Really need that dock update since the dock is so buggy.
  • I had exactly the same errors. Just decided to go back to factory settings. The updates installed fine after that.
  • Hope fixes my sp4 bugs that's started with updates...now it gets hot even when it's not on....then after hibernation it refuses to wake up...have to force start it...
  • Mine gets quite warm as well. It was really hot this afternoon. I used it for a minute the closed the cover so it shoudnt have been on but it got VERY hot and the scren went quite dim. I hope it isnt signs of things to come. If anyone has any info on the heat issue, please post
  • My SB firmware updates went well. All installed successfully the first time and restarted successfully. Hopefully this squashes more bugs. Keep up the updates MS!! Sorry for those having problems with these updates.
  • At last all my SP4 sleep issues seems to be solved. Thank you MS. Good but it took a little bit too long to fix this.
  • Just updated my Surface Book and its working fine. But I havent had much issues with mine since ive gotten it. *Knock on wood*
  • I guess things can always be improved, but I have had absolutely no issues on my SP4 with Windows Hello. The service is reliable and so wickedly fast that it still surprises me at times.
  • I got BSOD too while updating. After reboot everything seems to have updated.
  • Mine apparently fixed Windows hello issues and waiting to see Intel HD graphics crashing when video editing. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Arrghhh!!! I am sick to death of my Surface Pro 4 and all its constant reliability issues. Latest April firmware and driver updates has re-introduced the random touch screen failures again. FFS if I could get a refund on this piece of junk I would. I've honestly had enough of the crap!!
  • After installing the updates my laptop actually has stopped crashing every night.  I can come into the office and it pops right up.  HOWEVER, now i have terrible gaming performance.  Cant even play Heroes of the Storm whereas it was playing fine before hand.  I know it's not a gaming laptop but it can do casual gaming fine with that CPU and NVidia graphics.
  • Hi colleagues, I am using SufacePro 4 and have the following issues. I see a bunch of updates when I click on Windows update but when I click the Install now button, they do not get installed and I get the following error message Updates are available.
