2013 was a year of anticipation as big apps kept on creeping into the Windows Phone Store left and right. One app we all really wanted was Digitally Imported, which finally came in late October after being in public beta for a few months. Now we’ve got two sister networks of Digitally Imported joining the Windows Phone Store: SKY.FM and JAZZRADIO. Let’s check these two apps out.

Although DI.FM (Digitally Imported) now has an official app for Windows Phone, we shouldn’t forget the fantastic Beem Plus from developer Den Delimarsky. The official DI.FM app has some great features, but Beem Plus brings SkyDrive recording, Last.FM scrobbling, integration with the Xbox and Nokia Music stores and the ability to copy the track name.

We’ve been boasting about Digitally Imported (www.di.fm) for quite some time on this site, specifically with the unofficial app Beem, which is so good we can’t refuse it. Earlier this summer, Digitally Imported aka DI.FM, started up their Windows Phone app beta program, which concluded a little over a week ago.

The result? The official, free and fantastic app is now live in the Store for all Windows Phone 7.x and 8 users.

There are more music services than you can shake a stick at. On Windows Phone you have apps for all the major music platforms. We’ve got Xbox Music, Spotify, Pandora, Vevo, Soundcloud, and more. Sure, some of those might be a third party apps, but they exist and are pretty good. Digitally Imported is bringing an official app soon, but we’ve been pretty lucky with Beem as a third party offering. Development isn’t slowing down though, the app just picked up a new update. Let’s check it out.

We announced a few weeks ago that the popular electronic music streaming site Digitally Imported (www.di.fm) was beta testing their official app for Windows Phone. Tonight, we figured we show you the current status of the beta and how it all works.

Digitally Imported is a free music streaming site, though users can opt for a paid “Premium” experience like on Pandora. That feature enables 256kbps streaming with no ads and that membership level is reflected in the app.

We’ve been getting a solid stream of official apps the past half year. And those few apps that haven’t made the jump yet usually see solid alternatives within the development community of Windows Phone. But it is still important for the platform for official apps to keep joining. We’ve told you that Digitally Imported was working on a Windows Phone app. So you should go sign up for the beta.

Although we have the stellar and frequently updated Beem Plus for Windows Phone to deliver your thumping Digitally Imported (www.di.fm) electronic music, having an official app always gives a nod of true authenticity and some legitimacy to the platform.

So it’s quite exciting to see DI.fm list Windows Phone as “Coming in 2013…” under their supported apps section. Hoorah!
