Fallout 76 B.E.T.A. launches first on Xbox One in October

Today, Bethesda shared more details about Fallout 76's Break-It Early Test Application (B.E.T.A). In order to play the game early, you'll have to preorder Fallout 76 and then redeem a code that comes with your purchase on the game's website. There doesn't appear to be any other way at the moment.

Since Microsoft has a marketing agreement with Bethesda, Xbox One players can access the B.E.T.A on October 23, 2018. The B.E.T.A. begins for PC and PlayStation 4 players a week later on October 30. Just like many games nowadays, Fallout 76 features Xbox One X enhancements and possibly runs at native 4K resolution on the system like Fallout 4. Keep in mind that the B.E.T.A. download is the essentially the full game, so you may need around 45 GB of space.

Fallout 76 is expected to launch on November 14, starting at $59.99. Even though Fallout 76 is entirely online, it isn't a massively multiplayer online game. At any given time you'll be playing with dozens of people, not thousands. It's similar to titles like Anthem and Destiny 2, and focuses on emergent gameplay.

If you don't like playing with other people, you can also experience the title on your own. However, it's much easier if you have help, especially when it comes to gathering resources and building complex structures. It's unclear how this single-player option works because, supposedly, "every other character you encounter is a real player."
