High on Life 2 is set to release tomorrow, February 13, 2026, on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version releasing in April 2026. It serves as a sequel to the original game, which launched on Xbox Game Pass, and coincidentally, the sequel is doing the same.
High on Life 2 sticks closely to what made the first game enjoyable and dials it up. It is a first-person shooter packed with talking guns, wacky characters, and fast-paced gameplay, all designed to make you laugh.
Now, the reviews are in, and High on Life 2 appears to be stacking up slightly better than its predecessor, at least based on early scores. So, let’s take a look at what critics are praising, and where they think it falls short.
How are critics scoring High on Life 2?
As of writing, High on Life 2 is sitting at a 75 on Metacritic. Scores range from as low as 6/10 to as high as 9/10, with the top marks coming from XboxEra, now renamed to DayOne.
Across reviews, one of the most consistent positives is the humor. Critics frequently highlight how funny the game is, along with its strong sense of identity and expanded scope compared to the original.
Many reviewers describe it as bigger and more chaotic, offering a meaningful expansion rather than a simple repeat. If you enjoyed the first game, early impressions suggest there is plenty to like in the sequel.

That said, it is not without issues. Multiple critics point to bugs and technical rough edges, noting that it could benefit from additional polishing.
Some outlets also argue that it does not evolve the formula in a major way. While a few see that as a safe approach, even lower-scored reviews still acknowledge that the game itself is enjoyable, even if flawed.
High on Life 2 releases tomorrow, February 13, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass and supports Xbox Play Anywhere.
