What you need to know

  • The Medium is a decidedly unique horror experience for PC, and Xbox Series X|S, built by Bloober Team.
  • It features an innovative Dual Reality feature, which renders two separate dimensions at the same time.
  • Today, the Medium announced that the game has unfortunately been delayed until January 28, 2021, instead of the original date of December 10, 2020.
  • The reasons cited were due to COVID-19, as well as the schedule of other games, which could be referring to Cyberpunk 2077's new release date.

Horror fans are in for some bittersweet news today, as the Medium, the incredible looking psychological horror game from genre experts Bloober Team, has been officially delayed into next year. The announcement comes from Twitter, indicating the difficult decision was made because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected work in Poland, as well as "the current schedule of other games on the market."

While the Medium doesn't specify which games might have affected this decision, it's likely referring to Cyberpunk 2077, which was recently delayed to December 10, the Medium's original release date. While the Medium certainly looks like it could be an amazing game, especially for horror fans, Cyberpunk 2077 has had an undeniable effect on the gaming world with its palpable hype and aggressive marketing.

The Medium is now releasing on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC on January 28, 2021. Bloober Team will take the extra time to ensure the game is as perfect as possible, with extra polish and development time showing Bloober Team is "committed to delivering our biggest, most ambitious, fear-inducing experience to date."
