Microsoft Band 2 Features and Functions official support link briefly appears

Rumors about the upcoming Microsoft Band 2 fitness wearable got a big boost a few days ago when some alleged renders of the device got leaked on the Internet. Now, there's even more evidence that the company is preparing for the launch of Microsoft Band 2 with the brief discovery of a support page.

MS Band Link Image

The link, as first reported by WinSuperSite, was spotted on the "How to Connect your Microsoft Band" support page with the label "Microsoft Band 2 Features and Functions". The actual link goes to a "404 - Page Not Found error" page, but that does indicate Microsoft has something in the works at least. That link has since been removed from the "How to Connect your Microsoft Band" support page.

The Microsoft Band 2 is one of many rumored hardware devices from Microsoft that are expected to be officially revealed on October 6 at a press event in New York City. Windows Central will be there for first-hand reports on the announcements.

  • I can't wait until the 6th!
  • This ^ then it's a buy on day 1 of availability.
  • I still want a mechanical / band hybrid too though... maybe through a partnership!
  • Once we get see through screens that are 100% or close enough to that opacity when the display is off we will see such devices. Then a mechanical watch can be underneath with a display on top etc.
  • They already exist though. Kairos makes a smartwatch like that.
  • I want that as well. Kairos makes some nice looking examples, though very expensive. If it integrated with MS health just like the band did, I'd likely consider one of them.
  • Yeah I posted this link on another thread. I like the one coming this winter that is a hybrid mechanical with a smart band. I just wish MS would do something like this maybe through a partnership... https://kairoswatches.com/tbands/tband-awatch/od/msw_chrome/
  • Still waiting for surface phone. Purchase on day one
  • I love these types of comments. The mythical "Surface Phone" is nothing more than some ultimate phone each person on this site has constructed in their head. If you've been following this site, Daniel has stated the rumored Intel phone coming in May could could have the Surface branding. However he also added this phone could be more business oriented which might not include the high end specs everyone is dreaming about. So I'm not sure how you can say day one purchase for something which does not exist. If you're holding out for some magical unicorn phone, you could be in for a very long wait.
  • The funny thing is, a great looking Surface branded business oriented Intel phone is exactly what I want, regardless of high end specs.
  • Nice words cannon#WP , surface phone ftw
  • I have a feeling all of these products including sp4 will be available first day on Oct 6
  • They are going to bundle them with an Xbox one, surface phone, sp4, and band 2. For $750. Too expensive not worth the money/s

  • I can't wait to get one Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Still hoping for the new flagship though. I'm excited!
  • One Of The 'Rumored' Hardware Devices....
  • I'm buying day one. My MSB1 may have been replaced, under warranty, 4 times but it is still the best activity tracker for me. It looks like some of my major complaints are being resolved if it is what the leaked images portray it to be.
  • Mine too. Did your battery peel off? Mine did. MSStore replaced it, no questions asked. The replaced one is doing great!
  • My big issue is the charging pad corrosion, other one is slow to connect. I'm hoping both get fixed, them I'm on board 100%
  • My warranty expires in November and I have peeling issues. I wonder what are my chances of getting it replaced with the new one.
  • Microsoft is awesome, but i dont think they will replace a band for free with a newly released model, your chances are close to, if not 0%
  • You might be surprised by what they will do when you have a Complete plan.  I had a Surface 2 with a tiny bit of bezel damage that worked perfectly otherwise which I was going to sell for next to nothing to a friend since I'd upgraded to SP3.  Just on a whim, I checked at the MS store to see if they would honor the Complete warranty due to the issue, and sure enough, not only did they honor it, but even though they still had SP2s in stock, they allowed me to use the credit towards an SP3. Don't see why it would be any different with the band.
  • Great looking forward to the new and improved version.
  • Glad I didn't get the first one. I'll definitely snatch up this iteration.
  • Is it October 6th yet? So excited for day and all the devices that are rumored to be released.
  • I have my hopes up for better battery life (just a bit more than 48 hours would be fine), greater durability and for it to be waterproof.
  • Probably wont be water proof. But it certainly would be nice to be able to swim or shower with it on, like Fitbit and the Misfit Shine. Better battery life would definitely be a plus! I'd liek to see 72 hours on moderate use.
  • From what I have heard during your morning shower is the best time to charge the Ms Band 1. I would want the sleep tracker features so the period while I am getting ready in the morning is perfect to charge the device.
  • Personally I charge mine in the car on my commute to work. Not doing a lot of activity sitting down in traffic.
  • I currently charge my v1 while I'm in the shower. But, having it water resistant enough to use in the shower would be nice, because then you don't have to worry about accidentally leaving it on on killing it.
  • The render seems to show the bottom part of the band is better covered than the original. I think it will have some level of waterproofing.
  • All of the sensors and the charging connection tend to make it difficult to impossible.
  • Got an update on 1520 for Mail and Calendar.
  • Thanks for staying on topic
  • Yo, bro, this ain't the right place for news tips. ;)
  • So.... no one was actually smart/quick enough to screencap the features page? Some tip that was... ;-)
  • Because there wasn't a screen to capture. The link goes to a "404 - Page Not Found error" page.
  • Read the article, please
  • Apparently, somebody named Ryan ripped this.  Don't know why he could not just let people know what he saw.
  • Hope this band is amazing...
  • Honestly, I'm hoping they introduce something extra no one is expecting along with all of the other items we've heard about. It would be nice if they surprised us with a smartwatch. I know all of the pros about the band and I have the gen 1 unit, but I still think they should introduce a surface smartwatch as well since surface now represents the high-end spectrum as opposed to lumia. It needs to be something elegant like Apples watch. There's  no need for Microsoft to miss out on this segment like they did on mobile phones. Smartwatches have been out at least 2.5 - 3 years now; They can't afford to wait any longer as I don't see people hacking their android or iWatches to put windows 10 IOT on them. OEM's don't make good enough hardware to trust them as Dell, Lenovo, Asus, and Acer only started upping their game recently.
  • Don't gold your breath.
  • Better silver it
  • Damn you autocorrect!
  • I'm likin the little leaks here and there.
  • Big question will be will they price this one the same as original MS Band, higher or lower? If it is higher, I think they might have a harder time selling them. I still want one, but, am hopping that the price is not to high for this new MS Band 2
  • Long press the start button on the Lumia 920 and see what happens if you are on windows 10 mobile build 10536. That functionality is now available for 4.5 inch devices.
  • You're extremely late on that buddy. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Oh hello, welcome back from the rocks.
  • OK ... please tell us what happens when you long press.
  • Based on the article it must take you to the MS Band 2 support page. Otherwise it would just be an off topic comment about functionality that has been known for a while, right?
  • The screen shifts down for one handed use. This was reported a while ago.
  • I really like the looks of the band2
  • Im excited about the 6th also, but no matter what they do, the gadget media world will bash it. They could invent an engine that runs on air induction and they would wait until Apple invent s it six years later to celebrate it.
  • I can't wait until the 6th!!  Then we'll all be underwhelmed and forced to wait probably months until what's to be announced will actually be available... as Microsoft's priority is in ios/android
  • Microsoft Band 1 is on sale at BestBuy for $99.99!
  • Price matched to Target with their Cartwheel app and it becomes $75. http://forums.windowscentral.com/microsoft-band/384473-band-via-target-%2475.html#post3234941
  • Is it worth it?
  • Yes.
  • I hoping for the surface phone
  • I'm hoping for the surface phone
  • I'm sorry, what was the point of this article?
  • Too deep for you?
  • Meanwhile... it's being reported that the lumia 950 and 950xl will be at least $750!!
  • If there is any truth to that, then I'm going to Iphone. If I'm paying that much, might as well get a devices with the better app ecosystem. Hopefully, MS isn't stupid enough to actually try to get a premium price for their phones. Nothing that has been shown so far shows that it deserves a premium price.
  • ... and also being reported that that price includes 200 worth of accessoiries. So the math tells me 550.
  • And I heard $100 less than the iPhone.  Draw!
  • Curved glass gonna be susceptible to breakage... Needs a raised bezel to protect the display. This way looks way better though so I'll just do what I did before: Buy it and buy the accidental damage warranty.... Lol
  • I hope it has longer batt, waterproof, music app and some storage for mp3. Hope they sort out quality issues too, mine had all the lacquer peel off within 3 months
  • It would be super awesome if they announced a partnership with Fitbit and it could count my steps and load them into the Fitbit software! That is where all my friends are and I am not leaving it and losing my friends. I would love to replace my fitbit and my running Garmin all at once! Need to be able to at least use it in the rain, I'm fine not using it to swim but I can't be caught on a run in the rain and then start worring about my band/watch.
  • That's the sacrifice you make for going anything Microsoft... losing friends
  • If you lose friends going MS, they aren't worth keeping.
  • And why would fitbit do this? THey make money from selling devices. Only way that makes sense is if MS pays them to integrate the band into their software.
  • I am sure they coudl work something out. It would benefit both companies. I buy the Band because I want the additional features fall in love with the Fitbit software and encourage my friends ect to get on board (many who woudn't buy a Band) and they buy Fitbits. Fit bit is fun and useful due to the social nature of it.
  • In the rain, you'll be fine. As for your friends, that's tough. For me, I want integration with Nike. They'll be doing XBOX integration though.
  • I'm not keeping up any hopes of getting one, considering where you can purchase the band now, MS has and is losing a lot of potential customers by offering a very limited supply in only limited areas/countries.  Dissappointing to say the least.
  • The first Band was, pretty much, an experiment.  If they are releasing a new one, we can hope it will be distributed widely.
  • How does a site choose which tips to re report? No mention of multiple leaks now of 950/950xl pricing in europe here for discussion. we all know the bands are cool but the 950's are THE main topic at hand for most that have been here since this was Windows phone central
  • I hope the days up until the 6th pass quickly. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Microsoft actually announce and have to show off at the event.
  • That would have been great if the features page leaked too. I'm anxious to know what kind of new things they've done and what improvements they've made. I think we're all hoping for at least more accurate heart rate monitoring and maybe add calorie counting. I'd like to see deeper integration with Healthvault too, even though HV seems all but dead. But varying my guided workout on my Band based on my height, weight and medical information in HealthVault would be a tremendous advantage.
  • I hope that Microsoft learns how to market their products.  Great products that knowbody knows about doesn't do much for sales or market share.  I think that marketing is the biggest problem at Microsoft right now.
  • This and the Surface Pro 4... can't wait. (I'm only 1 year into my HTC One(M8) (windows) phone contract... will hopefully be upgrading sometime next year to a new swanky windows phone)
  • Same price now on Amazon
  • I would have had the MSB1 but its not available to my country, but I see the light on MSB2 when they said its available on countries on which Surface is selling. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Lets hope the SDK will be more "open" and LOW LEVEL this time.
