Resident Evil 2: Deluxe Edition features many costumes and a retro soundtrack

Resident Evil 2 originally launched in 1998 and is considered a cult classic. The title features tense exploration and puzzle-solving gameplay that are staples in the series even to this day. For those unfamiliar with the story, players join rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together by a disastrous outbreak in Raccoon City. The illness transforms the population into deadly zombies who just want to kill.

A few months ago, Capcom announced a Resident Evil 2 remake. At the PlayStation E3 2018 reveal, it was unclear if the game was a PlayStation 4 exclusive or coming to other platforms. Luckily, we reached out to Capcom and the team provided us with confirmation that Resident Evil 2 was indeed coming to Xbox One, with Xbox One X enhancements in tow.

There's a Resident Evil 2: Deluxe Edition which includes a lot of cosmetic items and some weapons. You can read about the list below. The "Nior" costumes, "Samurai Edge" gun, and "Retro Soundtrack" option stand out the most.

  • Claire "Elza Walker" costume
  • Claire "Military" costume
  • Claire "Noir" costume
  • Leon "Noir" costume
  • Leon "Arklay Sheriff" costume
  • "Albert Model Samurai Edge" gun
  • "Retro Soundtrack" toggle

Resident Evil 2: Deluxe Edition is currently available for preorder for $69.99. Be sure to give this game a go if you loved the original all those years ago.

  • do the costumes give you any upgrades? is the gun better at stopping zombies?
  • Steam has remasters of Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0, as well as originals of 4, 5, 6 and 7. With a remake of Resident Evil 2 due to arrive soon, that just leaves Resident Evil 3 as the missing link. Another remake on the way? Mind you, Resident Evil 8 is apparently already in development, so they may or may not have the resources to devote to a Resident Evil 3 remake any time soon.
