Shadow of the Tomb Raider goes official with September 14 release date

The adventures of Lara Croft are set to continue this September with the next entry in the Tomb Raider franchise. Following a leak earlier this week, Square Enix has now confirmed that Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the third game in rebooted series that began with 2013's Tomb Raider.

Outside of a teaser trailer featuring some short clips of Lara running and climbing through what looks to be a South American setting, Square Enix didn't provide any details on what to expect. However, the publisher does promise that the game will see a full reveal on April 27. In the meantime, check out the teaser trailer below:

We've known a new Tomb Raider was in the works for some time, and Square Enix even teased an announcement was coming in December. The last game in the series, Rise of the Tomb Raider, was released in November 2015.

According to Square Enix, Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Given that Rise of the Tomb Raider was among the first games to get enhanced for Xbox One X, it's reasonable to assume Shadow of the Tomb Raider will feature graphical boosts on Microsoft's latest console as well.

We'll learn more about Shadow of the Tomb Raider on April 27. In the meantime, both previous entries in the series are available to pick up on Xbox One and are also part of Xbox Game Pass.
