The Synology DS218play DiskStation 2-bay diskless network-attached storage is down to $184.99 with code EMCTVTA36 at Newegg. The code knocks $45 off the price, and the DS218play sells for $230 without the code and still goes for approximately that price at other retailers like Amazon.

NAS systems let you create your own media server at home. If you have a lot of digital music and movies, you can use a NAS like this one to put all those files in a central location and access it from any system in your home. It's also a good thing to have for small businesses where multiple people might need access to the same files.

The DS218play is a two-bay entry-level NAS with on-the-fly 4K video transcoding. That means you can store your 4K media on here and watch that media even on devices that don't support 4K as a format, like your smartphone. It has 112 MB/s reading and writing throughput and is powered by a 65-bit 1.4GHz quad-core processor and 1GB DDR4 RAM. The bays support up to 24TB, and you can connect the NAS to up to 15 IP cameras for recording security footage.

These are diskless bays, which means there's no hard drives inside. You'll need to fill them yourself. The WD Red 3TB is an internal hard drive designed for NAS devices like this.
