A chromed Nokia Lumia 900: to impress all of your high roller friends

When at Mobile World Congress you can come across some random and odd things. This one gets filed under that category. What you see in the photo above (and video) is a custom chromed Nokia Lumia 900.

Now, we have to point out that this was not done by Nokia but rather one of their Ambassador’s, George Salcedo (@Salcedo_George), who took it upon himself to track down a place to do this kind of thing. In short, the ability to “chrome plastic” (and in this case polycarbonate) is evidently now achievable, if you can find the right place to do it.

We’re not going to lie, it’s a tad heavy but the cool touch makes it totally worth it. Maybe someday we’ll all have metal Lumias, eh?

A chromed Nokia Lumia 900: to impress all of your high roller friends

In theory that looks good but quickly that would probably get scratched or would show fingerprints like crazy.

I think it looks great but im with the guy up there that mentioned how it will effect your cell phone service. I would like a metal plated phone in general. Something that's hard to break. I hate huge covers for my phone. Im just one person though.

It wouldn't be the same look. I'm no expert in this sort of thing by any means but I used to work for a shower-head / faucet manufacturer and they have these chambers where they release the chrome material and some type of gases then bombard the object with positive (or negative) ions. The chrome material is then bonded to the object being chromed. What is cool about this process is if you adjust the gas amounts you can acheive a wide range of colors or multiple colors to an object. Anyway, enough of that.
We have the StormTrooper model. I deem this phone as the Terminator!

Not everyone will like it, but I think that it looks pretty cool.  Always cool to see supporters of a product trying new things with it.

Looks good, except around some of the holes looks kinda funky. Must really wanted a chrome one to go through all that trouble. One word, FINGERPRINTS

Dan are my eyes playing tricks on me cause the one in the picture looks like it has the black Carl Zeiss but the video one looks to be all chromed out anyways this is pretty creative I hope it's more interesting stuff like this at MWC cause you really have to love these devices to go that next step

I was watchin an automotive tv show a few weeks ago and they had a company on that could chrome plate just about anything (plastic, rubber, wood ect) i think they were called CyberShield. Well apearently you could send your parts or whatever to them and they would chrome plate it.

ok someone mod the area where it says carl zeiss and with a glowing red sweeping light, and we can call it a toaster er a cylon..
