One of the safest bets for ultra-wide gaming just got 40% more affordable for Cyber Monday — it sure doesn't skimp on quality for a cheaper price
Need an ultrawide gaming monitor that won't set your budget back by months? The HP OMEN 34c (G2) was always a safe choice — and now it's heavily discounted for Cyber Monday.
If you need an ultrawide gaming monitor, you know you need an ultrawide gaming monitor. They're not to everyone's taste, but a lot of us simply can't pass up that extended visual real estate. Sadly, ultrawide gaming monitors actually worth buying often boast price tags as wide as their screens.
Well, usually. For Cyber Monday, the consistently great HP OMEN 34c (G2) is just $319.99 at BestBuy.com, a 40% discount on a terrifically safe monitor for gaming, productivity, and entertainment. Oh, and that price is matched at other retailers like Amazon.com and HP.com, so shop where you love. I wouldn't wait too long to take advantage, though, because this deal likely won't last much longer.
Monday, Dec. 1 @ 7:05 p.m. ET: Our readers have been loving this deal, so I hopped in to make sure it's still in stock and the price hasn't changed, and to add some of my own thoughts on the monitor I reviewed for Windows Central. — Zachary Boddy, Staff Writer
Hey, it's me (Zachary Boddy), the person who reviewed this monitor. At 40% off, this ultrawide monitor is a cool 10/10 in my eyes. The image quality, gaming performance, and design are all well above what you'd expect for just $320, so take advantage of this Cyber Monday deal.
My Windows Central review: ⭐⭐⭐½
The HP OMEN 34c (G2) doesn't exactly reinvent the wheel, but it does a good job improving upon the foundations set by the G1 series while keeping its specs grounded with only essential components to enhance gaming without bloating its price tag.
It features a 34-inch, ultrawide VA panel display capable of producing crisp visuals up to 3440 x 1440 WQHD resolutions, 400 nits of brightness, and a striking 4000:1 contrast ratio.
The HP Omen 34c (G2) also features a 180Hz refresh rate, which just hits the sweet spot between 120Hz and 240Hz to help keep a game's framerate consistently high while removing all traces of motion blur and artifacting to keep visuals clean.
Other performance-enhancing features include 1ms response times and AMD FreeSync Premium support. The monitor also includes an anti-glare coating to prevent the screen from being obscured by outside lights.
So, if you fancy a simple, straight-to-the-point ultra-wide gaming monitor to play your favorite Xbox or PC titles with commendable performance without costing you an arm and a leg, then the HP OMEN 34c (G2) is not a bad choice at all.
. . .
Happy Cyber Monday, everyone! This is Zachary Boddy, taking over from Alex to share a few extra thoughts on this monitor. I reviewed the HP OMEN 34c (G2) and awarded it 3.5/5-stars, a score heavily influenced by this monitor's retail price tag. A 40% discount pretty comfortably combats any of my major complaints.
With the HP OMEN 34c (G2) going for $319.99 at BestBuy.com (or Amazon.com and HP.com, depending on your retailer preferences), I can't readily recommend any other ultrawide gaming monitor. The easy-to-assemble design, excellent overall performance, and pleasant image quality make this Cyber Monday deal difficult to pass up.
