Blasphemous is a fast-paced platformer that combines challenging combat with exploration and role-playing mechanics. According to the developer, The Game Kitchen, a foul curse has befallen the land of Cvstodia and its inhabitants. This blight is called The Miracle and it's up to you to lift it. You step into the shoes of The Penitent One, the survivor of a massacre, who's trapped in this endless cycle of death and rebirth.

On August 4, Blasphemous is getting new downloadable content (DLC) for free that expands upon the story and gameplay. The developer said the following in a post on Twitter.

Today we're excited to share with you that Blasphemous, the punishing action platformer from The Game Kitchen, is receiving a free DLC on August 4... which sees playing reprising their role as The Penitent One as they seek out to awaken an ancestral power long since forgotten by the Miracle. Coming to Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as a free update for all players, The Stir of Dawn will take the Blasphemous experience to the next level.

The free update includes the following.

  • Updated voice acting
  • Optional "Three Penitence" system
  • New storylines, characters, bosses, and areas to discover
  • New executions and counterattacks
  • Revamped map with more fast travel points
  • New items and animations
  • Balance changes

  • It's a pretty awesome game, not overly challenging compared to other games in the style, but still a Hell of a lot of fun and it'll be good to revisit the world again.
