Some people can't wait until their phone starts "blowin' up," as the kids say. And folks cannot even stand when their phone buzzes even a little bit. Luckily, WhatsApp allows you to not just turn notifications on and off — you can also personalize tones and the types of notifications you do or don't want to receive. Here's how!

How to control notifications and alerts in WhatsApp for Windows 10 Mobile

There are a pile of options, so we'll go through each of them individually. WhatsApp makes personalization abundantly available in terms of notifications. However, you can't give each contact his or her own message or ring tone, so don't rack your brain trying to find that function. Windows 10 Mobile likes to keep things simple.

  • Is this a competition to see how much useless crap you guys can post in one week? Seriously, I never thought I'd see Windows Central resorting to this...

  • Exactly. It was all good only until Windows Phone Central.
The day it became WC, is the day vague articles started popping up.
  • Atleast sites like WMPU don't go writing such lame articles!
  • I wouldn't know, I wouldn't be caught dead there.
  • I like that they expose the truth about the condition of Windows Phone. Windows Central rarely does it.
  • The truth != hyperbolic, doom and gloom, click bait articles
  • Look at their most recent editorial. It brings hope to the users
  • MSPU (WMPU) also posts quite a lot of lame articles. Don't be blinded please. I guess they are actually paying WC to promote apps now. We all made a joke of this before but I guess it's true.!!
  • They are known to do stuff like this. Eg: How to download apps from Store
  • I think WhatsApp must have sponsored WC or they have shares in it . what is it with all these WhatsApp crap
  • Really? Despite after so many negative comment on the article from yesterday, yet still post about one....
  • It's all about the clicks.....
  • Why is Windows Central in bed with WhatsApp?
  • They paid more than Amazon? On a serious note WC needs to pay it bills, would be nice though that editorial content and ads would be clearly separated.
  • Totally agree
  • I mean you guys could simply ignore the article its not that hard
  • Best solution to filter these useless articles.. Goto start screen> slide to all apps page> scroll and select WindowsCentral> press and hold> uninstall> click OK.. Problem solved Guys.. Uninstall this crap and download this app..
    MSPoweruser https://www.windowscentral.com/e?link=https2F%2Fclick.linksynergy.co...
  • LOL
  • Now, that's a little radical move, don't you think? I used to follow both WC and WMPU while on Lumia and liked both sites.
Few pointless articles doesn't mean that you should go away. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • I'm disappointed in Windows Central, but not to the point of using WMPU as an alternative. I wouldn't be caught dead in that site. I'd rather stop reading about Windows altogether than heading to that crap site.
  • Lol yes! Their app is so well supported and even got Redstone features like chaseble tiles in like a DAY!
  • What's app needs to hurry up with it's Windows 10 overhaul already so I can use interactive notifications
  • Why this sudden obsession with WhatsApp
  • To be continued... :-) Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Just STOP writing about WhatsApp please :'(
  • Thanks guys for this kinda of posts and this kinda of articles. There is millions of users can't control this notifications. Thanks windows central app . Love u guys .
  • Is WhatsApp really so complex that it needs several articles to explain how to use it? If they are paying you to bring attention to the app or something at least put a disclaimer at the top.
  • Seriously stop with all the what's app how to's. You have written more if these than you have for windows!
  • I am forever indebted to you. TQ
  • I just can't stop laugh at this WhatsApp articles. Hahahahaha, every time I see WhatsApp, I laugh 10 mins. :D:D:D
  • Hahaha same here
  • Next article how to use Camera app for Windows 10 mobile. Lolz
  • No next article would be how to install whatsapp from store lol
  • Or that WhatsApp is no longer available in the store.
  • Next one is "how to touch the touch screen"..
  • Yesterday there was an article on it.
  • Haha this comment section is great though.... These WhatsApp articles are terrible however
  • My ringtones that are in my ringtone folder that show up for my phone ok do not show up for this app. Very annoying.
  • Yeah amigo, I were wondering the same
  • My Whatsapp notification never show on lockscreen(those under the clock with txt and email) but it does in notification center(wipe down from lock screen).  Any fix?  W10M on BLU HD
  • Look at setting, under lockscreen, u can choose which apps to display...
  • Setting -> System -> notifications/action -> Under "show notifications from whatsapp" -> Notifications on, show notification banners on, private off(tried on) and vibrate on. And nothing.
  • Setting -> personalization -> lock screen -> choose apps to show quick status...
  • Got it, u da best.
  • Can't wait for their new "WhatsApp" category in their app
  • So all the hopes for a new UI or app are in vain!
  • Hey. I want to learn how to pick up the call in windows phone 10? LOL Windows Central App(WC) should rebrand it to Windows Central Crap.
  • Did WhatsApp hack WC and initiate a spam operation?
  • So why we can't use our own notification sound from "Ringtones" or "Music" folders? Why we aren't able to see them in the list when we change the notification sound? I'm bored with this 'Daayre' limitations.
  • I'm pretty sure that if you customize your notification inside W10M\Settings\System\Notifications for your whatsapp app, you can choose whatever sound your system has. I don't even know which overcome the other setting: the system-wide notification or the in-app setting this article details. I am pretty sure the OS has the latest words.
  • Yes, that works - you just need to set the notification within WA to 'Windows Standard' and choose the one you really want in the W10M settings for WA. Just works for the normal ones, not groups
  • Just ignore the articles you don't like. Nothing click-baity about it. Besides if it raises awareness for WM, great.
  • The unfortunate thing is that there actually ARE tips and tricks that I wonder about with WhatsApp that aren't silly like this. Like how to add numbers from other countries (I've tried several ways and can't get it to connect to my relative in another country), limitations with WhatsApp (I know your phone has to be on WiFi to use WhatsApp web, but does it matter if it's the same WiFi? or any?) and so on. That would be content but still get some attention for WA.
