Microsoft's new Xbox One Elite controller can now be pre-ordered for $150

Microsoft announced its awesome-looking new controller for the Xbox One during the E3 presentation yesterday.

Do note that Amazon's release date appears to be slightly off, especially given that Microsoft has already shared availability details for the controller, which is expected to hit stores in October. That said, you'll still need to hunt for that $150.

To recap, here's what you'll get inside the box:

  • Xbox Elite Wireless Controller
  • Carrying case
  • Set of 4 paddles
  • Set of 6 thumbsticks: standard (2), tall (2), and domed (2)
  • Set of 2 D-pads: faceted and standard
  • USB cable
  • AA batteries
  • Quick Setup Guide and Product Manual

Be sure to check the Microsoft website for more details on the new Xbox One Elite controller (opens in new tab).

  • And when its come on Amazon.India
    Or available in India
  • Seriously?! "Wen in India" is beyond a joke.
  • Turn it in mate.
  • I had the pleasure of seeing two of these controller's and holding them. I'm going to buy two of them that how right they felt in my hands. Screw the price I'm going to splurge on my self.
  • Did you know that there was a resent research done in India regarding condoms, and the conclusion was they needed to make a new size condom small enough to fit indians. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/6161691.stm  <-- true story. :)
  • =Wen in India? ^^^
  • 150 bucks?! Damn...sure its not meant for me...ordinary controller with interchangeable and removable components...hmm...would have been awesome for 100 bucks..
  • Thats why it is called Elite controller and not working class controller :)
  • That's cold... Just cold :)
  • Very cold
  • Turn down for what
  • $150 is a great price, scuf controllers go upwards to $200.
  • In my opinion, I think the price is just right. The customization of the controller, button remapping, trigger sensitivity and more. So, its a pretty good price indeed. So, I better keep an eye out on when it comes to the UK and the UK price.
  • No doubt it'll be £150 here as we generally get mugged off hard in the UK. Oh, a streaming service is 10 dollars in the US but 10 paaands in the UK. I smell a philosoraptor meme incoming.
  • Or Xbox One which is £350 here and $350 in the US. $545 at current exchange rates...
  • £350 is £290 without taxes, how hard is it to learn this?
  • And is £290 the same as in US exchange rate wise? Most stuff is cheaper in US compared to UK including other variables such as taxes etc.
  • wow. So guess what. America has sales tax to (although lower than europe) and since the product is likely manufactured outside of the country, probably has import tax to just like the UK. So your argument is wrong from top to bottom.
  • But the price in the US is quoted without sales tax. It sounds like the UK pricing includes the VAT taxes.
  • It's currently available to pre-order in the UK for £49.99
  • Wow... For that price, its the same as an original Xbox One Controller! Awesome!
  • You mean £130. How does this compare to $150? Your argument is a fail top to bottom.
  • 150 is way too much for a controller. That's as much as the Kinect costs!!
  • Aw, c'mon. Didn't you see all the extras they threw in? The combination of carrying case, AA batteries, and a manual alone make up half of its price, so it's totally priced to sell!
  • I would love to buy a Xbox one but why a controller need AA battery? Didn't Microsoft learned already from the PS4?
  • Believe me the experience I have had with rechargable battery's and battery packs they have went wonky sooner or later. Replaceable batteries is a much better option than replacing controller's its a cheaper option ps4 controller battery goes you have to repair or replace
  • The battery life on the PS4 controller is pathetic compared to the Xbox One and Xbox 360. I would much rather have to change AA batteries every few weeks than have to charge my controller every few days.
  • Way too much for you maybe. What did you expect? Them to make it free?
  • Not free. Not cheap. Man, It's overpriced
  • Why not it's to confuse people, the Xbox One has done that since release lol
  • Yeah, but this you can actually use for gaming... now where's my popcorn..
  • Totally buying it
  • I'm sure that it's worth the money.
  • Clever move ms as this controller will work superbly for pc gamers who prefer a controller but like gaming on pc or want to play fighters/football games. With the extra buttons, reconfigurable/mapping options and precision oriented cursor it covers pretty much any type of game then you can switch up for x1 use. Just need hands on for final idea about implementation and execution.
  • It should come with the controller's signal receiver on a PC special edition, I'd buy it no matter the price
Also I will never understand why does Microsoft don't use Bluetooth as controller signal so we can play easily on PC without cables, and even connect the controller to the phone to play any games such as halo Spartan assault/strike that would be amazing
  • Re BT signal, ms uses propriety/patented wireless signal for x1 controllers. I think its been this way since 360 due to 3rd parties making poor replicas and tarnishing the xbox brand from og xbox days(I think that was the reason given)
  • Pretty sure that Bluetooth is a much slower transfer rate, so the 360/xb1 controllers are way faster and more responsive than over Bluetooth
  • This, plus the fact that BT drains the battery pretty quickly.
  • Nope, Bluetooth 4.0 and up have a very minimal impact on the battery.
  • It's not as bad as 3.0, but it's still not very efficient, and hardly what anyone would call "minimal". Just try it on your phone. Connect it over BT to literally anything the entire time and your battery difference will be very noticeable.
  • BT is a more efficient WiFi, literally lol.
  • I use my fitbit on my 735 with Bluetooth always on. Battery life went from 2 days to 1.75 days. So minimal for me unless your using a device (headset or other) with am older version of Bluetooth.
  • Should have included rechargeable batteries
  • +1. it's a shame in the normal controller, moreover in a 150$ controller!   Overall, too expensive. 100$ would have been expensive already, but buyable. At 150...who is gonna buy it? :|
  • Lots of people will.
  • I plan on buying 2
  • I plan on getting one
  • Really? For $150 I get AA batteries? Why not rechargeable???!
  • Why not a lithionthingi 3500mha for epic gaming!? Lol
  • because they want you to buy eneloops or the play and charge kit, or third party charge kits
ohh or just use AA batteries
  • Ang mahal ng pukengina!
  • lol
  • Nice. Pachupa ka sa bakla.
  • Overpriced
  • already #14 on the amazon bestseller list for games http://www.amazon.com/best-sellers-video-games/zgbs/videogames/ref=sv_vg... most hardcore gamers are still on xbox one
  • #10 now :)
  • Now #8
  • Lol, too much for a controller? I spent this much on my keyboard. It's not overpriced at all, if you really want to have a better gaming experience. I switched to a mechanical keyboard and it really changed how I play everything especially twitch ir arena shooters like unreal. It makes a difference and alot of tech and hard work went into this.
  • Will it work on pc ??
  • Yes, they said its for both Xbox and windows ten PC.
  • Thanks : )
  • It will work on Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10. The app that allows you to configure the controller will only be on Windows 10.
  • $150? No. Hell no. Microsoft, stop trying to take Apple's shtick. I can almost buy three new games for this.
  • It's not just a regular controller. Pricing for regular controllers is on par with everyone else, meaning you could almost buy three regular controllers for the price of this. There is a lot you can do with this. Controller modding gets expensive... and this is pretty slick OEM modding IMHO
  • A comparable controller from Scuf gaming is about $200 including shipping. This is not meant for normal gamers. It's created for pro gamers and hardcore gamers. Basically, if you think $150 is too much, they didn't make it for you
  • I think the price is right. Thought about getting a scuf but after seeing this. I'm getting this
  • I'll wait to see if the companion app is ios and android only........
  • Windows 10 for mobile will get it...... at least six months after ios and android.
  • It's funny because MS annouced this new controller, Scuf went on the offensive to show off their own new customizable controller. Problem is Scuf is still $50+ more than the MS one at $150
  • $150...they could have at least included the new wireless USB adapter for PCs as part of the package.
  • I'd rather buy a Scuf controller! The Xbox One controllers are made horrendously, I don't know if I could trust them with this.
  • You do know that scuf simply takes Microsoft built controllers and solders a few wires on the inside and glue stuff together in there right? I'd trust the manufacturer over a company that simply modifies a product and really doesn't do a great job at it. My Scuf wore out after a year and a Hal and when I opened it up to clean it and try to get it working I saw the cheap solder and glue
  • AA batteries? Seriously?
  • AA batteries are still better than built in battery.
  • I'm not that involved in gaming to be called a "hardcore gamer". I'm a Microsoft fan,and think the controller looks awesome! That being said, some of you need to STFU! All you do is complain. "Overpriced","Should be rechargeable batteries"... Blah, blah. People are never satisfied. None of you who feel that way better not have an iPhone or any other Apple product that's for damn sure if you're complaining about the price of this. If so,go shove your phone up your a**! At first I was like $150 seems kinda expensive for a controller as well, until I read the article. Just buy it,or don't buy it. Besides, you'll be able to get one for less more than likely around the holidays which isn't far from the release of the controller. Shut your face. Ok,I'm done.
  • When will Gamestop get this? Also, why are people complaining about the price?! Scuf controllers go upwards to $200!! Stop complaining, this is a great price.
  • So the paddles are new buttons that are used in addition to the trigger and shoulder? Or are they used in place of the trigger and shoulder buttons?
  • I have the same doubt. What are the paddles used for
  • They usually used as duplicates of the A,B,X, and Y buttons. They come in handy in games like COD AW where to jump you have to take your thumb off the thumbstick to press A. With the paddle on the back you don't have to do that so you can still look around when jumping. That is just one example.
