While the Sprint Touch Pro 2 ROM update, featuring Windows Mobile 6.5 and Sense 2.5, has turned out to be a pretty big hit amongst users, there is one little nagging issue that has changed with the new configuration: no more LED alerts.
Before under 'Sounds and Notifications', the user was able to enable/disable whether LED alerts would be used for email, text, voicemail, missed calls, etc. In addition, you could specify how long the duration for said blinking shall occur. This feature was a recent change found on many HTC devices and was something that we all greatly appreciated.
So why did Sprint/HTC decide to disable the feature with the latest update? Improve battery life? Make everything more "simple"? They simply made a mistake? No one knows but it is quite annoying.
Luckily, MightyMike and Mr.X have found a solution, all packed up in a simple .cab file. Just download, install and soft reset and those LED alerts will now be available to enable and configure. You can get the download and read more about it here or scan the MS Tag below.

Interestingly enough, I have the Verizon version and, when I upgraded to 6.5 when it came out, my TP2 disabled the same thing (except some LED notifications were checked and stuck on unnecessary lengths of times, like 5 minutes for an e-mail notification). I still haven't found a fix for it and, even though they're both CDMA, I think I'd rather let someone else test it. :-/
Here are the registry setting to "unlock" some of notification settings, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=571332
Hmmm, interesting. I didn't even know there was an official 6.5 ROM for the Sprint TP2.
I was actually planning on upgrading somebody else's TP2 to 6.5, but I'll prolly just end up getting an unofficial 6.5 ROM.
I should have read the comment about someone else testing this (even on Sprint). After installing, my LEDs never worked and neither did my button or keyboard lights.
Sprint TouchPro 2. About a week old so there's not a lot of stuff on it. I uninstalled the patch and now the device is locked up after restarting.
It has inherited the large screen, thin-bezel-with-screen-almost-to-the-side from the Touch HD and the
it stopped the keyboard from lighting up on my sprint tp2. removed the program and keyboard light started working again.
HTC Pro 2 has full internet capabilities It has full Wi-Fi connectivity. HTC Touch Pro 2 is optimized for communication purposes too.
Enable/Disable LED Notification Setting in Sound and Notifications [with my changes for to make it work for Touch Pro2 but it should be good for HD2 as well.] If you want to get the addresses for HTC HD2 just click the keys up and down in the same area of the registry, and look at what is specified. Or go to the link below for the original forum where I got the info from before I made modifications to their info to make it fit for Touch Pro2] For Touch Pro2 running on stock ROM wm6.5 for Sprint: Messaging: New Email Message
