Microsoft started off E3 2018 with a bang, taking the wraps off of the latest entry in its Forza series called Forza Horizon 4. The game takes place in Britain and features numerous enhancements over its predecessor. Today, during an official livestream, we got another in-depth look at the winter season. Playground Games also showed off some of the character customization options again.
The footage showcases the British winter in all its glory. The map completely changes and more areas become accessible. For example, a once-turbulent lake freezes over, allowing certain cars to drive over it. Hopefully a lot of new areas will be accessible when the season changes. There should be some limitations on what cars can drive on ice because some vehicles are so heavy that they would just sink.
The visuals in Forza Horizon 4 seem like a definitive upgrade over Forza Horizon 3. The reflections and particle effects are a sight to behold. The game also supports a 60 FPS mode on Xbox One X along with the standard 4K 30 FPS offering.
Forza Horizon 4 is set to launch on October 2, 2018 for $59.99. If you pick up the Forza Horizon 4: Ultimate Edition, you can get early access starting on September 28. Forza Horizon 4 will also be available as part of the Xbox Game Pass on Xbox One and PC through Xbox Play Anywhere.
