Microsoft Flight Simulator is an upcoming well, fight simulator, from Xbox Game Studios. The Microsoft team is working with an external partner to make it a comprehensive experience on PC.

Recently, the developer posted a new video on YouTube discussing cockpits in great detail. The description says, "Watch as Martial Bossard Lead Software Engineer from Asobo Studio talks about cockpits in the next evolution of... Flight Simulator." It's quite informative and gives players great insight into the staggering level of detail this game offers.

According to Windows Central's Samuel Tolbert, "First revealed at E3 2019... Flight Simulator aims to recapture the audience that loved the long-running series of flight simulation titles. After giving a small roadmap earlier this year, the team at working on the game has continued to give a series of updates and videos on different elements of the game's design."

Did you play Flight Simulator all those years ago? Are you excited for this version? Let us know. Hopefully, it'll come to Xbox Series X too, down the line.

  • Still play flight simulator, but these days its Lockeed's fork of MSFS
  • I've been tempted by P3D a few times but the price of entry always put me off. Definitely impressed with how much MS is packing into what will only cost $60 or so.
  • Still flying FSX on a regular basis. Can't wait for the new Flight Simulator to arrive! Watching all of the progress updates with great anticipation!!!
  • I was a LONG time MS Flight Simulator enthusiast. I was very excited about the new version (sadly, I still haven't been invited to the Alpha testing). But the biggest disappointment is that they are not supporting VR with this. This just makes no sense to me. MSFS has an excellent ground school and excellent guided instruction to prepare you for the real thing, and given that VR has become such a heavy player in most professional flight schools (including the military), why on earth would MS not include that as a core capability of their newest version? This just floors me.
  • I'm sure they considered it then concluded it's not a wise investment.
  • They said as much. But they said it mostly from the perspective of Xbox users. Not PC. But the stupid Xbox is the overriding decision point, apparently. It really, really needs to include VR support for PC users.
  • Perhaps they can add VR as an update for PC users down the line? I'm hoping they do as the flight sim will be an amazing experience with VR.
