Best Accessories for Dell XPS 13 in 2020
The Dell XPS 13 is a stellar laptop that can function entirely on its own thanks to a smart design, capable internal hardware, and your choice of FHD touch, non-touch, or 4K touch display. There are, however, several accessories that will make your experience even better, and we rounded up our favourites right here that should work with older XPS 13 models as well as the latest 7390.
Affordable sleeve
Tomtoc's 360-degree protective sleeve has a polyester finish that is water-resistant, thick padding around the entire edge, and the corners have extra padding in case of drops. The front has a zippered pocket that can handle a charger and some other accessories. The main pocket, lined with a foam cushion, is also zippered to keep everything in place.
Thunderbolt 3 dock
With the CalDigit TS3 Plus, you're looking at adding 15 ports, including five USB-A 3.1, two USB-C 3.1, DisplayPort 1.2, Ethernet, and two Thunderbolt 3 to your XPS 13. Connect your XPS 13 to two 4K displays or one 5K display to create a workstation ready to boost productivity. Your device will stay charged thanks to up to 85W of power through the host connection.
Multipurpose messenger
Available in a 13-inch design, your XPS 13 will fit snugly inside one of the two padded compartments. And you'll have plenty of room for your accessories in the divided outer pocket. The Maglatch makes for a smooth close, and it stays shut until you want it open — no more worrying about whether or not your stuff is falling out while you rush to catch a taxi.
Wireless mouse
Logitech's MX Master 2S connects via Bluetooth, or the included nano receiver, and it offers up to 70 days of battery life on a single charge. Tracking is accurate enough for productivity and even gaming, and the design keeps it comfortable for extended periods of use. If you need a great wireless mouse to go with your XPS 13, this is it.
External 27-inch monitor
This 27-inch monitor has almost no bezel around it, allowing the 2560x1440 resolution to look brilliant without interruption. Connect with HDMI or DisplayPort, take advantage of multiple USB ports, and adjust for height, pivot, swivel, and tilt to get the right angle no matter the situation. Colour reproduction is excellent, with 99% sRGB coverage.
Extra USB storage
If you'd like to add some extra portable storage to your XPS 13, Samsung's T5 external solid-state drive (SSD) connects with USB-C and offers transfer speeds up to 540 MB/s. It's small enough to slip into your pocket easily, it's available in four colours, and you can start at 500GB and go all the way up to 2TB of space.
If we're making some suggestions
All of the above accessories can contribute to your XPS 13 experience, and all accessories should work with older and newer XPS 13 models, including the refreshed 7390.
If you're still wondering which accessory to pick up first, we can make some suggestions. Tomtoc's 360 sleeve provides outstanding protection for your laptop thanks to thick padding around all sides and corners, plus it has extra zippered pockets for your smaller accessories. If you're often taking your XPS 13 with you, start here and keep your laptop safe.
Those of you who primarily use their XPS 13 in an office setting — home or work — will likely want to check out the CalDigit TS3 Plus Thunderbolt 3 docking station. It adds 15 total ports to your laptop, and it can even charge your device while it's plugged in, allowing you to not worry about battery life when it's time to go portable. Connect displays, storage, and other accessories without worrying about cable clutter, giving you a true workstation every time you sit down.
