If you have questions about the new Xbox Game Pass service, we're here to help.
Microsoft's latest treat for Xbox gamers is Game Pass, a subscription-based service that will open up a whole new library of games. It's due to launch later in 2017, but there are still details we don't know.
Even in its early stages, there are things we _do_know. Here are answers to some of the most common questions.
What is Xbox Game Pass?
Game Pass is a subscription service that will give Xbox One gamers access to a library of games to download and play for as long as they continue to pay for the service. A similar example would be EA Access, except Game Pass won't be exclusive to one publisher.
How much will Game Pass cost?
When it launches, Xbox Game Pass will cost $9.99 a month.
Will it replace Xbox Live Games with Gold?
No. Game Pass is a completely separate service than Games with Gold and will operate alongside it.
How do I get Xbox Game Pass?
Right now, the Game Pass is in a trial phase, with a small number of games available. Xbox Insiders on the Alpha ring can participate and provide feedback to Microsoft to help make the service the best it can be ahead of its full launch.
How many games will there be?
Microsoft claims 100 games will be in the library when the product officially launches. The Alpha trial has a much smaller catalog, and you'll find a full list of games below. Microsoft already stated that some of the big-name titles coming to Game Pass will include Halo 5: Guardians, Payday 2 and NBA 2K16.
Do I need to an Xbox Live Gold subscription?
No, though it's currently unclear how online multiplayer will be handled for Game Pass if there's no requirement for Gold. However, Gold subscribers will get to experience Game Pass first before it launches fully.
Will Xbox Play Anywhere games be included?
At this time, the included games beyond the trial catalog are unknown. It's possible that some of the Play Anywhere games will be included, but there's no word yet on if you would be able to play those on Windows 10 as part of your Game Pass subscription.
Will backwards-compatible Xbox 360 titles be included in Game Pass?
Absolutely! Some of Microsoft's first-party titles are already available in the Alpha preview.
Will I get a discount to buy the games if I like them?
Yep. Game Pass subscribers will get an exclusive discount to buy the games and related downloadable content (DLC).
Will it be available on Windows 10?
At the moment, no. An early mention of Windows 10 was subsequently removed by Microsoft.
Will I be able to play if I stop my subscription?
Games are available to play, in full, for as long as you're a paying subscriber. If you cancel your subscription, you lose access to the games.
This hopefully answers some of the questions you have about Xbox Game Pass, and we'll keep this post updated as more information becomes available. If you have a question that hasn't been answered drop it into the comments below, and we'll do our best to provide an answer.
