Racing games can be a blast to play, but a piece of the genre's magic is somewhat dulled when you play them on a traditional controller, especially if you're someone who grew up playing racing arcade machines back in the day.
Fortunately, third-party manufacturers have spent years crafting accessories to help replicate that experience at home, like Turtle Beach's VelocityOne Race KD3 Wheel and Pedal system for Xbox and PC, now available for $249.99 at Best Buy.
"The VelocityOne KD3 Wheel and Pedal system is a perfect mid-range entry point for racing fans on Xbox." — Michael Hoglund, Contributor
Windows Central review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Why buy the VelocityOne Race KD3?
The Turtle Beach VelocityOne KD3 Wheel and Pedal system is an upgraded version of the company's debut racing wheel, the VelocityOne Wheel Pedal System, and it improves upon its design in nearly every single way.
The VelocityOne KD3's steering wheel has a firm, ergonomic soft rubber grip that is comfortable to hold, the controls for both the wheel and pedals are extremely responsive, and it features immersive feedback when pulling tricks on the track, thanks to its 3.2Nm force-feedback motor.
On the downside, the VelocityOne KD3 has cheap-feeling buttons, a more diminutive ecosystem for extra accessories, upgrades, and wheel options compared to its rivals, and it has a smaller but noticeable muted feedback on higher torque settings.
Despite those nitpicks, though, this is a great entry-level racing wheel for Xbox and PC players looking to enhance their racing immersion, especially when the hotly anticipated Forza Horizon 6 is released/
So, if you want to enjoy the best Xbox and PC racing games without breaking the bank, now's the time to take the VelocityOne KD3 for a test drive, as its $449.99 MSRP has been cut to a more manageable fee of $274.99 at Best Buy.
