If you need performance, you'll likely be choosing from AMD's Ryzen Threadripper family of CPUs. The Threadripper 3960X is an insane processor, rocking 24 cores and 48 threads, but you'll need some fast RAM to really allow the processor to take flight. We've rounded up some fine examples. Threadripper supports quad-channel support, so if we recommend a kit with two sticks, buy two of them for better performance.

Rippin' Threads

AMD's Ryzen Threadripper 3960X works well with speedy RAM. You should look to use modules with clock speeds of at least 3,200MHz. This 16GB kit from Corsair has just that. The two modules are also fairly affordable, costing just $40 per 8GB RAM stick. Buy two of these kits for 32GB capacity and for the quad-channel support.

Good Looks

The Threadripper 3960X is one amazing processor, but you won't be able to see it. Still, you can make other components look their best and this 16GB kit from G.SKILL would do just that with stunning looks and RGB lighting. It looks gold plated, so you'll likely be asked which jeweler stocks RAM kits. Throw two of these kits in for maximum looks and performance.

Lit Capacity

If you need more than 16GB of RAM and want some modules that glow in the dark, but don't want to fork out for premium options like the Trident Z Royal Gold, this kit from Corsair rocks four 8GB modules with all the lighting you'll need.

When choosing RAM for a new third-gen Ryzen Threadripper CPU, you need to go fast. Make sure the module kit you buy has a clock speed of at least 3,200MHz. Keep in mind latency ratings, too, as these can affect overall memory performance. Also make sure you have a compatible motherboard while you're at it. There are some solid options out there, but you'll be well equipped with one of our suggestions.

We continue to recommend Corsair's Vengeance LPX 16GB Kit because it really is an excellent value RAM kit and works well with the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X at 3200MHz. It's also affordable. Who wouldn't want to save a little after spending so much on the CPU?

Should you want some fancy, premium-looking RAM, the G.SKILL TridentZ kits are genuinely unique with colorful designs and plenty of RGB lighting. The one we've highlighted in this collection also rocks a clock speed of 3,200MHz and would pair up well with the Threadripper.
