ARC Raiders is exploding right now, with more than 4 million sales and over 700,000 players hitting the servers at once

ARC Raiders launched on October 30, 2025, and has already climbed to the top of everyone’s most-played list, myself included. It is developed by Embark Studios, the team behind The Finals, and it has moved far faster than anyone expected.

According to Nexon, the game has sold more than 4 million units worldwide. On Steam, it has reached a peak of 462,000 concurrent players, which already surpasses its previous record from the week before. Embark also confirmed that ARC Raiders reached more than 700,000 simultaneous players across all platforms combined, covering Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Epic Games Store, and GeForce NOW.

What is ARC Raiders, and is it here to stay?

ARC Raiders is a multiplayer co-op extraction shooter built by Embark Studios, a team founded by veteran Battlefield developers. It blends PvP elements, resource gathering, and high-risk, high-reward decision-making with constant pressure from ARC machines. These robots roam the map and introduce environmental danger that ramps up the longer you stay in a match. Enemy types vary widely, from small football-sized threats to towering machines that can flatten you in seconds, along with airborne drones that keep you on edge.

If you have played games like Escape from Tarkov, you will recognise the basic loop, although ARC Raiders is far more accessible and arcade-like. It is easier to pick up, quicker to understand, and more welcoming for players who may find traditional extraction shooters overwhelming.

In response to the news of the game's exceptional sales, Nexon CEO Junghun Lee, who has a strategic investment in Embark Studios, said:

It is still early days for the game, but Embark has already announced post-launch content. A new map, community event, additional enemies, quests, and items are all arriving in November. Another update is planned for December, which adds a new snow-based map condition, more events, and a fresh battle pass with new quests.

I have been thoroughly enjoying ARC Raiders with friends, and even on my own. Not everyone you meet in-game is friendly, but the moments when they happen do tend to stand out. Fighting off ARCs with random players or asking for help and actually getting it creates the kind of memories you do not see very often, and it reminds me of the Xbox 360 era with its pre and post-game lobbies.

You will still meet players who charge in and try to take out anyone they see. Those moments stand out too, and they give the game an edge that makes every encounter feel tense.
