On May 9, 2026, WWE announced during its Backlash PLE that an upcoming PLE called Triplemania 34 will be sponsored by Gears of War: E-Day, and will go live on September 11, 2026, and September 13, 2026.
On the surface, this isn't anything special, as WWE in recent years has received plenty of sponsorships from AAA videogames like DOOM: The Dark Ages, Diablo 4, and Borderlands 4, to name a few.
For example, during WWE's Clash in Paris on August 31, the Street Profits dressed as Borderlands' iconic Psycho enemies as part of a Borderlands 4 sponsorship, just two days after the game's September 12, 2026, release date was announced.

Then, recently at WWE's WrestleMania 42 PLE, which ran April 18, 2026, to April 19, 2026, Penta dressed up as Mortal Kombat's iconic villain, Shao Kahn, as part of a sponsorship for the Mortal Kombat 2 movie, which released a month later on May 8, 2026.

Now, based on these examples, I believe it is likely that when Triplemania 34 arrives on September 11, 2026, one of two things could happen:
- 1. Gears of War: E-Day's release date will be announced around the same time as Triplemania 34.
- 2. Gears of War: E-Day's release date will be announced months prior (probably during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026) and be released around the same month as or next month after Triplemania 34.
Of course, all of this is speculation and not concrete evidence because, for all we know, Gears of War: E-Day's release date could be announced later down the road at the 2026 Game Awards and be released in 2027. Anything could happen in the video games industry after all.
Either way, we will have to wait for the Xbox Games Showcase to see if all this speculation turns out to be true.
One thing's for sure, players are getting fired to return to the mad world of Gears of War as Gears of War: E-Day is taking fans back to the origins of its most beloved heroes, Marcus and Dom, and finally showing the day when the Locust began its never-ending war on humanity.
I know my friends and I are itching to play Gears of War: E-Day as we have fond memories of the original Gears of War trilogy (though I could do without dealing with the Kryll ever again), so seeing Marcus and Dom team again for one more adventure (even if it's in the past) will be a fun, nostalgic, goretastic, thrill-ride.
