Xbox VP Jason Ronald points fans to a community voting site, suggesting player feedback could influence future backward compatibility additions across generations.
Backward compatibility is still a hot topic, whether it’s worth the effort or not. Some argue it isn’t used as much as people think, and to those people, I say shush.
Xbox remains one of the most consumer-friendly platforms, respecting a library that stretches back to 2001. That level of commitment to older titles is something you simply don’t get elsewhere.
Earlier this year, Xbox confirmed that its backward compatibility efforts would return. VP of Next Generation Jason Ronald stated, “we’re committed to keeping games from four generations of Xbox playable for years to come. As part of our 25th anniversary later this year, we’ll be rolling out new ways to play some of the most iconic games from our past.”

What that actually meant, though, was unclear, or at least it was to me. Did it point to more games being added, support for Project Helix, or even broader compatibility on PC?
Now, it seems Jason Ronald may have given a clearer indication that more titles are indeed on the way, though I’d still take this with some sort of grain of salt, as well; you never truly know.

In that post, Ronald also links to XboxGamePreservation.com, a community-run website where fans can vote on what games they’d like to see return via Xbox’s backward compatibility efforts.
We’ve covered the website before, but seeing someone at Xbox actively point people there is enough to get people, myself included, a bit excited.
