What you need to know

  • Microsoft has debuted a collaboration with Liberty London marking its UK flagship store opening.
  • Limited-edition Microsoft Surface devices feature the department store's floral prints.
  • 100 hand-printed Microsoft Surface Pro 6 Type Covers will also be available for purchase on July 11 at London's new Microsoft Store.

Microsoft will soon open doors to its new UK flagship store, sited at Oxford Circus in the heart of central London. Slated for a July 11, 2019 arrival at 253-259 Regent Street, the U.S. technology giant occupies 21,932 square feet across the three-floor storefront, packing Surface, Windows, Xbox, HoloLens, and more. And with launch festivities soon underway, Microsoft Surface has secured its latest collaboration with iconic London department store, Liberty.

Now host to designer garments to homewares, Liberty London earned its name with over a century of floral and graphic prints. A staple of Regent Street and among Microsoft's newfound neighbors, Stylist reports the duo will soon debut a limited-edition collaboration melding its Microsoft Surface device family with Liberty's signature motifs.

The limited-edition designs blend prints from the Liberty archive, both from the retailer's 1875 opening to Microsoft's founding year of 1975. A small range of hand-printed Microsoft Surface Pro Type Covers await early store visitors, with a wider charity auction to follow with reskinned devices.

Liberty-printed Microsoft Surface Pro 6 Type Covers will be available for purchase in a limited 100-piece batch upon the London Microsoft Store opening on July 11, 2019. Microsoft has also expanded the designs to six Surface Go, Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, Surface Book 2, and Surface Studio devices, set for an eBay auction until July 19. All proceeds go to SpecialEffect, the UK-based charity that helps people with physical disabilities play video games, previously contributing to the Xbox Adaptive Controller.
