OpenAI's Sora 2 is now available within Microsoft 365 Copilot. Microsoft announced the integration during its Ignite 2025 conference, which runs throughout this week. Sora 2 brings improved video creation capabilities to Microsoft 365. The tool went viral shortly after launch due to the quality of the clips generated.
Sora 2 can make content much more realistic than the previous version of Sora. The tool has earned both praise and criticism, since AI-generated videos are a controversial topic. Sora 2 supports a "cameos" feature that creates the likeness of a person that can then be placed in content.
Sora 2 in Microsoft 365 Copilot
The addition of Sora 2 to Microsoft 365 Copilot matches a pattern set by Microsoft. Earlier this year, the tech giant added the original version of Sora to Bing Video Creator. Microsoft has largely shifted away from the Bing brand when it comes to AI and made Bing Video Creator part of Copilot recently.
Today's announcement is about Sora 2 coming to Microsoft 365 Copilot, specifically, so the model integrates with the Create experience in supported applications.
Create is available to commercial users in the Frontier program.
Copilot supports short AI-generated clips made using Sora 2. When you make a video project with Copilot, you can use tools for voiceovers, add music, and include elements from your brand kit as well.
