Today marked the launch of Microsoft's new Surface Pro 7 and Surface Laptop 3. While that means the devices were set to start hitting store shelves today, it also meant they were scheduled to start arriving for people who had preordered.
For some preorder customers, however, shipments may be delayed, if a Reddit post is to be believed. The poster claims UPS cited a communication issue with Microsoft, allegedly leading to thousands of Surface preorders being "stuck in limbo." From the post:
We've reached out to Microsoft for comment and will update this post with more as it becomes available.
Launch days are sometimes messy affairs, and there are usually at least some buyers who report shipment issues with preorders. But we want to know: did your preorder arrive safe and sound today? Or are you still waiting on yours to arrive?

Received Surface Laptop 3 today. Awesome laptop!
I went to the Microsoft store and picked one up. Even had a delicious cup of coffee.
Received Surface Pro 7 today.
Costco has both of those devices already in stock
My SL3 15" I7 16GB has one day delay, it will be delivered today. Pre ordered on October 3rd.
Mine has not even shipped and pre ordered before. Microsoft support has been horrible to resolve the issue and they aren't willing to provide any opinions to expedite the order. I have spent over three hours in chat an almost two hours in the phone as I was transfered multiple times. Only now will my case be escalated which will take 24 hours to 48 hours to try and get express shipping!
Picked up the SP7 yesterday. Loving it. It's my third Surface. Having USB-C is NICE... just like it was on my Go. It's about time the Pro stepped up. This thing is super zippy, and I'm already feeling the advantage of the Iris graphics when fiddling around with Premiere Pro. Very, very functional. I haven't tried any games yet, but overall it's like this thing performs how you always expected a Surface should. I have the i5. I'm not sure how much better the i7 could possibly feel for the power user because I consider myself reasonably demanding and so far this thing hasn't skipped a beat. Love it, and glad I picked it up.
The graphics in the i7 version put it more in line with the Nvidia MX150, slightly above the AMD RX Vega 10. So it has the extra kick with the graphics, I'm not sure about the CPU though. I went with the i7/16/256 version simply because it was only $90 more than the i5/16/256 SP7, plus I wanted black and the i5 version I was eyeing is only available in silver. If I wasn't after 16GB of RAM, I would have just gone with the i5/8/256 version.
Nope, no delays on my end. My SP7 wasn't shipped, I preordered through my closest MS store. They didn't have my preorder there (at least not labeled for me when I went an hour after opening) but they sold me one of the extra ones. I received an email late last night saying it was ready for pickup so I guess they still tagged one of the extra ones. SP7 i7/16/256
