Xbox Live multiplayer goes free for everyone through August 12

If you still haven't gone in on an Xbox Live Gold subscription, Microsoft is giving everyone a little taste for free this weekend. Running from today through August 12, Xbox Live multiplayer will be open to everyone across Xbox One for every game.

Any multiplayer titles you currently own will allow you to take part in the action. But if you're looking for something new to play, Microsoft has the hookup there as well. Throughout the weekend, RPG epic The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited and arcade racer OnRush are both available to play for free.

The free weekend is already in effect, and you'll have through 11:59 p.m. PT on August 12 to take part. Normally, Xbox Live Gold costs $9.99 per month, and includes fresh lineup of free games for subscribers to get their hands on every month.

If you're busy this weekend, Microsoft runs these events once every few of months or so, and this certainly won't be the last we see. Are there any games you're planning to leap into this weekend?
