After all the memes about an Xbox Series X refrigerator, Microsoft is making good and delivering an actual Xbox Series X Mini Fridge. While it won't play any of the best Xbox games, it is capable of keeping some drinks and snacks cool, so you've got plenty of chilled refreshments whenever you're ready for a break from gaming.

This fridge came after all the jokes and memes shared about how the Xbox Series X looked like a real refrigerator. Following a social media contest, Microsoft committed to actually manufacturing mini-fridges for fans to grab.

Whether you're enjoying some rounds of multiplayer in Halo Infinite, or want something that can keep beverages cool while you're exploring planets in Starfield, the Xbox Series X Mini Fridge has you covered. Preorders kicked off on Oct. 19, 2021.

Note that while preorders have begun, we don't know how much stock is available for the first wave of these fridges. If you see it in stock and you want one, you'll need to act fast. However, with high demand, they're already proving hard to find.

Xbox Series X Mini Fridge: The story so far

Microsoft unveiled its Xbox Series X back in Dec. 2019, adopting an all-black monolithic design. It departed from the traditional console form factor, ditching the conventional horizontal slab for an imposing, power-hungry 30cm tower. That bulky footprint eventually spawned a series of memes around the forthcoming hardware, often likened to a refrigerator.

Microsoft would later lean into the memes, producing full-sized Xbox Series X refrigerators, gifted to the likes of rapper Snoop Dogg and YouTuber iJustine. Given the demand for full-sized Xbox refrigerators probably isn't as large, we've now seen Microsoft partner up with Ukonic! on its first mini-fridge release.

The Xbox Series X Mini Fridge is, appropriately enough, designed to resemble the regular Xbox Series X. It's first launching in North America and Europe, spanning a small lineup of retailer partners.

The Xbox Series X Mini Fridge is capable of holding 10 regular 12oz. cans, with more or less space available depending on the size of cans or bottles you choose to store in it. We also know the exact internal dimensions, per Xbox GM of marketing, Aaron Greenberg, packing 352.3mm x 174mm x 175mm (13.8" x 6.8" x 6.8") of storage. The externals also measure 462mm x 232mm x 232mm (18" x 9" x 9"), larger than your average Xbox Series X.

The Xbox Series X Mini Fridge supports AC or DC, the latter of which is handled through a power adapter, so you're set either way, even if you want to take it on a trip. The device also includes a USB charger on the front, so you can charge your phone or some gaming accessories at the same you cool off your drinks.

Xbox Series X Mini Fridge release date

The Xbox Series X Mini Fridge is currently set to launch at some point in Dec. 2021. There's no exact date owing to the nature of gathering orders for the units but if you're successful in securing a preorder, you'll be getting yours sometime before 2021 is up.

Outside of the ten aforementioned countries, you'll be looking at some point in 2022. Microsoft is currently exploring bringing the Xbox Series X Mini Fridge to other regions but there's no exact date for when to expect news, outside of some time in 2022. We'll keep you updated as it becomes available in more markets.

  • Game for UK was the perfect choice. Allows us to grab some reward points that we can use towards xbox games, consoles, controllers etc. Checked game.co.uk and looks like will have to wait to pre-order during lunch or on the way to work tomorrow lol.
