Earn Gears 5 'Gilded Weapons' by unlocking achievements in past games

What you need to know

  • Gears 5 launches in September on Xbox One and PC.
  • The game eliminates the season pass and loot crates.
  • You can earn an exclusive cosmetic set by playing the previous games.
  • You can preorder the game for $50 on Amazon.

Gears 5 is an upcoming third-person shooter that launches in September and The Coalition keeps on providing us with new details about the upcoming game. Recently, Gears 5 Multiplayer Design Director Ryan Cleven discussed servers and balance tuning. The franchise will feature 60 Hz servers for the first time with Gears 5 and there is one tuning setup across core and competitive multiplayer modes.

Customization is also an important part of the experience and if you're a long-time fan of the franchise, you'll be rewarded. According to the official Gears of War Twitter account, you can earn the exclusive Gilded Weapon Skin Set in Gears of War 4 and Gears 5 if you unlock an Xbox Achievement in every Gears of War game.

This means that you'll have to play Gears of War, Gears of War 2, Gears of War 3, Gears of War 4, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, and Gears of War: Judgement. Luckily, the achievements are easy to earn so it's not an impossible task because you just need to unlock one by September 2. All six games are available through Xbox Game Pass so it's not even expensive.

Unlike many other games, Gears 5 shines with Unreal Engine 4. The game looks stunning and runs at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second (FPS) on Xbox One X. Gears of War 4 ran at 4K 30 FPS during the campaign and 4K 60 FPS during multiplayer. This time around, both modes are the same frame rate.
